i have a ford fiesta 09 tdci, the engine fan is very loud when i turn engine off. everyone commented on this, it is my first diesel ford and wondered if this was normal

I'm surprised the engine fan kicks in at all in this weather... I can't remember the last time i heard mine! Are you sure the aircon isn't switched on and it's the aircon rad fan that you can hear?

I bought my Fiesta 1.6 TDCI back in March last year. Twice now, both on cold (i.e. below zero) mornings when I have reached work and turned off the ignition there has been a burning rubbery smell outside the car, and a cooling fan was on that loud that it was heard 40m away. The 1st time it happened I though OMG WTF, but that was almost a year ago, the car didn't go up in smoke & still runs well.

So my guess (= total guess) is that it's related to the DPF regen cycle, but I'd love to know for sure.

sounds like either a thermostat issue or an electrical issue with the fan switch.

However as said above if its really loud its more likley to be the air con fan as they are normally louder
