hi the wifes got a focus 18 zetec instument panel going haywire and on start up the batterys boiling any idears .........xxxx

smart charge has gone and putting major amps into the battery causing it to boil do the dash test and check the voltage it shouldnt be above 14.5 i suspect youres is far above that looks like a new alternators needed also make sure the battery is silver calcium not lead acid as this will also cause the battery to boil see here http://www.petercoopercarrepairs.co.uk/ford_focus_alternator_smart_charging.htm
