Can any body help me. about a month ago i came across a problem with my 2001 focus 1.6 zetec. rather than hitting the rev limiter at 7000 its somehow changed to 5500. N when it does does it the 5500 mark rather than the needle bouncing on 5500 mark it jumps down to about 4000. Since then I've notice that when im driving at about 2000 revs its acting like its miss firing. n a few times when I've gone round a corner at about 30 in 3rd the engine tries to cut out. revs just dive m i have to quickly put it into 2nd n press the accelerater all the way ro recover it. debt know if its related to the problem but a few days before these problems i was spraying intake cleaner into the for intake n sprayed too much as the engine just cut out. can anyone help or should i just scrap the car????

Spraying too much fluid in just floods the engine temporarily.
Shouldn't cause a permanent problem.
Sounds to me like your idle control valve may be playing up.

[/quote]You may need a new Pcv Valve.. if it becomes blocked this can sometimes cause rough idleing and loss of power this may be cause of your problem..... It is apparently advised that you change this valve or try to clean in every 20-35000 miles

In my experience it sounds to me like you may have a fuel pump problem. your car is one that suffers from this problem from around 70,000 miles I have changed countless pumps on these but you shohld check things like fuel filter located by the tank and fuel rail pressure first. let me know how you get on good luck ;-)

Cheers guys I'll try these suggestions I've also been told it could br the egr valve but i can't seem to locate it. also probs should mention that i was having a tinker with it. i was reving the engine from under the bonnet n as soon as it hit 5500 the engine like jerked n some fumes came out the back of the engine
