Hi all,
lookin for some advise, i'm havin to top up my 2005 petrol 2litre focus ghia with oil (1-2 liters) every few hundred miles.Usual plume of smoke + oil droplets from exhust when revs 6000.
Told engine knackered! so don't no whether to go for recon, rebuild or breakers, though have been told they don't come up very often at breakers + you pays your money and takes your chance. Any ideas, does the mondeo have a compatible engine? Thanks Mart

What about looking for a damaged rusting or MOT failure car with a good low mileage engine, that way you would be able to check out mileage and history of the engine.

Agreed, if the engints shot, go for something from a scrapheap, unless your going to get a recon warranty, you might as well take your chances from a scrapheap. rear end right offs, damage, exchange, even the governments trade in scheme cars should still be accessible by the public.

you could also try an online breakers, have done this before with good results.

if you are going down the line of swapping the engine, make sure you get a receipt for it as you will need it for the log book to keep it right
