i have got a 03 plate mondeo 2.0 tdci its not ticking over very well also black soot is coming from exhaust when reved never have i seen this one b4 when ticking over if i put my hand over exhaust for a few secounds then let go i get coverd in soot please help as just done duel mass flywheell full service not cheap so would like to put back on road or will brake it

check the intercooler pipe from the bottom of the egr for splits, it could also be a sticking egr valve, these can be removed and cleaned.

thanks mintalkin the pipe was split also cleaned egr and inlet a lot of bulid up but now still black soot coming from exhaust and also the glow plug light flashing think its time to brake for parts
