Full Version: 2003 Focus 1.6 Attempted Stalling!!
Ford Owners Club - Ford Forums > Ford Models > Ford Focus Club
Iv got a 1.6 focus.
It wasnt running right i.e 'juddering' 'missing when accelerating and slowing down"
So spark plugs, leads, coil pack, battery reset done
That corrected that problem but now its is trying to stall when idolising.
When at traffic lights or just statonary.
It goes to stall but the revs blip and it saves itself.
I had diagnostics done which said irregular air flow or intake.something like inlet gaskets got cleaned and sealed. but its still doing it really bad.

Any clues anyone??

[sub]I would check positive crankcase ventilation valve and associated pipework for air leaks. Also Idle air control valve and throttle position sensor. Do you have an engine management light coming on in your dash?[/sub]
could be your Mass Airflow Sensor...well thats what it translates to me, so i could be wrong.

this sensor is located just after your air filter, pretty easy to see and remove...alot of money though to replace....those cheap ones on ebay wont work.
The most common reason would be the Idle Control Valve (Air Bypass Valve). It may be worth taking it off and giving it a clean first with some carb cleaner to see if that makes a difference as they do soot up.
I also recommend cleaning your idle control valve. Sounds very much like the problems I had with my Escort. It was notorious on the Escorts for being a problem, along with the mass airflow sensor.
Yep.....IACV gets my vote.
