Hi Dudes and Dudettes

Im having a moan again :-(

I know it has been damp with the wet weather of late but:-

The windows in my new focus keep steaming up even though the fan is on and pointing at the windscreen.

I have to turn the air con on and heated screen to clear it.

Could it be an indication that the pollen filters are wet

or could there be water inside the car somewhere.

This damp car isnt doing my cystic fibrosis any good :-(

All tips and help greatfully received

all the courtesy cars i had were exactly the same that much condensation suggests water is getting in the cars omewhere take it back to the dealer and explain it to them

Feel the carpets to see if they are wet, check the boot area and spare wheel cavity for water, and this time of the year when it is wet always keep the air-con on.

will keeping the air con dry the car out.

Should i park the car on the drive with the engine running and air con on recirculate and lock the car with the spare key

I have only had it for a week

I wouldn't, just check for water in the car and always have the air-con on when you are using it, if in doubt, take it back to the dealer and let him sort it out. It's new it shouldn't be your problem.

dont rub the aircon in recirculate this could be youre problem the aircon should only be in recirc mode when the interior is very hot and only till the cabin has cooled slightly in wet weather it has to be fresh air switch recirc off and youll likely not have any issues
james_60
ok cool i wont leave it on recirculate.

I will check the car over properly when this darn rain stops long enough for me to not end up like a drowned rat lol

I probably breath too heavy :-)

Thanx for all of ure tips :-)

Get a set of these to improve the air flow in your car.
They allow the car to ventilate better and allow condensation out on warm/wet days.

Have Mk3, no problems whatsoever with misting up. I only use air con on re-circ when following something chucking out fumes. Always use it on fresh air setting for a start.

When you park up, check under car to see if there is a pool of water from the air con drain. Father had blocked drain on his Seat Ibiza which caused the condensate to back up and cause exactly the problem you are seeing. My monies on a similar problem.

Keep us updated.

i wouldnt worry its likely down to using the recirculate especially when its been raining the climair deflectors are good though i use the heko ones

Hi Jamie, this very rainy weather I was finding my mk3 screen was constantly steaming up, I have rubber mats, mine and passengers wet shoes was causing puddles on the mats.

I didn't use the aircon instead I used the hot air blower set it to screen and feet on hot this seemed to eventually sorted it. I do travel to and from work every day an hour each way so the heat did eventually dry it out.

I use my imagination or whatever is walking around rofl

:-)

I look into those air deflectors

Hi, I have had no issues with my interior glass steaming up whether I have the carpet mats or the rubber ones, however you should never keep the air con on reculate or travel with the windows open when it is on as it makes it inefficient and will use more fuel...
