just bought my mates car it needs a new starter motor and new exhaust as it has fallen off from what i think is the cat ? am i right in saying that ?
also as the starter motor is shot how can we get it started ?

First part - yes.
Second part - roll it down a shallow hill in second gear with clutch in and ignition on, once up to over 5 mph let clutch out Quickly and be prepared to dip the clutch and cover the brake when it fires up.
Keep your hand on the hand brake in case it doesn't fire as the foot brake may not bite if the engine is not running.
