Hi all, i am a new member looking for some advice.

I have just bought a t plate finesse 1.6 zetec, i love the car but im having slight problems with the temp guage.

The guage doesnt move at all till ive done 15 miles! it then moves into the white bit below normal (slowly) then goes back to nothing.

Also my heating works, but to me its not Hot hot - its just warm.

checked radiator, all ok, no sign of headgasket failure

im baffled!! anyone help me??

sounds like the thermostat stuck open and will require replacement.

is this an easy job? i do have some mechanical knowledge - were can this be found?

to change it take's about 20 mins if you don't know too much. look to the right of the engine and you will see the coil pack below that is a load of pipes going into what looks like a silver box. take the large pipe and the small pipe under it off (makes it better to get to the bottem bolt Above where you took the large pipe off there should be two 8mm bolts undo them aswell as the bolt below the large pipe pop it off and just pull the thermostat out clean up the edge's of the houseing replace thermo put some instant seal on the two edge's and bolt up replace hoses and away you go
