im just about to order the parts to do a service on my mk2 1.8tdci.
anyone got any advice on the best oil to use? its got castrol fully synthetic 5w30 at the moment (if memory serves)
best make to use ? should i got for a long life?

personally i use ford oil from the dealer specified for the car its not cheap stuff they use and its what the cars meant to have so ide just go with that if im honest i believe its actually made by castrol but i could be wrong on that

the ford stuff is not as expensive as you would think, last time i got 5 litres for about £22 IIRC

The recommended is 5w30 castrol magnatec full synth. 4.5 litres.

fords at lakeside is half price £18 or u can order it online .formular ford oil is made by bp.castrol is owned by bp,ford tech told me it was the same oil

yep as i said ford oil is castrol and cheaperthan the castrol branded stuff most of the time its what ford recommend so its good enough for me

Looking at this, could of saved a few quid getting Ford's oil...
