Hi I've just purchased this car and it seems in very good condition, but on idle it keeps reving up and making a noise and I've been told it has a air leek but can find one, will this be the problem? can someone suggest what to do as I have no idea what to do nd rather not take it to a garage if I can mend it myself! Thanks in advance Tracey :-)

Check all the large rubber pipes at the back of the engine for cracks, splits and pinches especially underneath and near the clamps.

I can't see any details using my phone but what engine does it have?
Check the rubber pipes on the manifold for splits.
Also worth removing and cleaning the IAC valve

I should add that someone who doesn't wish to help me just sprayed some wd40 down towards the passenger side of the engine and it went silent for about a minuet! Does that help with someone's diagnosis?
Thank you

I would check the inlet manifold gasket.
