well after ordering the exhaust sytem and itnercooler , i have been advised by a guy at the tuning company to get my turbo charger worked on like a hybrid if i want to see a decent gain around 180 - 195 bhp, so im realy considering doing this ive just emailed Turbo Technics, and waiting for them to get back hopefully they can just modify the existing one rather than having to fit a aftermarket turbo, obviously in time ill update the clutch too and then put the 2.0 gearbox in there.

any comments / thoughts / previous experience would be appreciated

chances are they will try and sell you a hybrid. also, be wary of companies that say they have done the job properly and the turbo was inspected but it blew after it was fitted to the car and it wasnt fitted correctly as they try and get out of coughing up. Heard good and bad things about Turbo Technics, CR Turbo's and a few others.

with the hybrid turbo ide be surprised if you wouldnt also need bigger injectors or pump as well as a remap and air intake modified likely a revised manifold to take more gas and a custom dyno session otherwise youll have serious running issues and flat spots increasing the hp as much as that youll need bigger alloys to fit the bigger brakes and disks you will need as well add that to the clutch and gearbox a decent job will easily cost a few thousand pounds and the ecu and fueling as well as intake intercooler fitted and exhaust would need to be done in one a good quality reliable hybrid turbo on its on costs £1000 plus you get cheaper ones but they arent all that reliable personally if you want more hp get an st.
tt did a nitrous on a mates focus once its in the scrappy after the engine went they were great at offering to increase hp but didnt mention internals that should have been upgraded or how it would damage the engine over time if these parts werent modified

yeah regarding the fueling id have to look into the injectors and fuel pump, do you know anything about the 2.2 lump in the mondeo ? i guess they are bigger injectors / pump due to increased engine size, thats not to worrying for me tbh i can do that work myself at trade price , im more worried about like what sal said, ive seen horror stories comming from these turbo places, and ive never had any experience with turbos myself apart from changing them , and regarding the custom map thats what i rang up about regarding the exhaust system intake and intercooler, and was advised to do turbo work if i wanted to see anything worth paying 500 quid for a day on the dyno with a tuner for. also ive read or heard somewhere that by fitting a different kind of turbo something about the factory turbos are like dual stage or something? , you can see gains from the same or slightly less boost?

definatley willing to get a power gain tho including the risks.

Hi mate,
i dont have much knowledge in this field but i know of one guy who is an idependant and by that i mean he is not part of any tuning company but he has a 1.6TDCi fiesta with a Turbo Dynamics Hybrid turbo and a RS tuning Remap he even has the battery relocated in to the boot of the thing.
hes currently running 144BHP at 353nm Torque his name is wayno84 and he is a moderator on TDOCUK.com
