wonder if you can help me , iv got at 2l focus and when i SOMETIMES put my foot down the engine sounds loud like its got a performance filter on it but it has not

any ideas?

Have you checked the integrity of the exhaust, particularly at the manifold flexi-pipe?

no , do you mean i could have a hole in it somehwere ?

just thinking about it it only just passed it mot wouyld it fail if there was a probelm you have stated ?

If there was a hole in the exhaust, then yes, it would have failed an MOT.

But you'd be surprised how quickly a hole can develop. One particularly mean piece of road debris, and it's all downhill from there.

Kwik-Fit do a free exhaust check. I wouldn't recommend using them to do the work, but might as well take advantage of the free check. Although I'd advise you to request to observe while the check is carried out just to be sure that they don't do any mucking about - breaking things that aren't broken in the hopes of you getting them to carry out the repair.

But if the noise only happens sometimes, I'd suggest that it's not a hole, but maybe a compromised gasket that is creating a opening at high rpm. Or, as before, at the flex pipe.

Where does the noise sound like it's coming from? The front?

Aye, Rob. Where is the noise coming from? If it's near the front of the car it could be one of the problems as suggested by myself and Garrie. As far as I know, it is quite common to get a small exhaust leak at the manifold flex pipe.

hi guys thanks for the comments , the sound is coming from the front and the noise is happen all the time when i hit high revs and it sound like i have a performance filter on the car

so its more an induction noise than an exhaust noise? check the air intake for splits or loose hoses.
