Full Version: Is It Possible To Add A Subwoofer And Amp To The Factory Deck?

Hey folks

I have a 12" JL Audio W7 subwoofer and JL Audio 750watt mono amp with zero gauge wiring kit that I yanked out of my old Acura MDX before buying my new Ford Fusion

My question is, do I *need* to replace the head unit in order to hook up the subwoofer and amplifier, or can I add it to the factory deck that I have (the SYNC package) ?

We don't want to replace the head unit really because it's a brand new car and the other drivers wan't to keep the original, stock functionality that we paid for and just add in the equipment we already had sitting around.

Not to mention buying this SYNC package would have been utterly useless if we replace the deck because I'd assume all of the SYNC commands and functionality would be gone...

Thank you in advance for any help!!

Cheers from Toronto

you will need an RCA converter and use the rear speakers. i did it on my Focus 08 plate.

Hi mate,

Not to sure on the New US models but this website may help you out a bit

As Sal said, you can run the sub of the rear speaker wires so you wouldn't need to mess about with the stereo system.
