Grill is a 5 minute job, just have to be carefull with the lock (as I found out - have a look at my progress thread in my sig).
Debadging is easy too, apply heat (hairdryer or heatgun) to the silver letters, peel off and use some Autoglym Intense Tar Remover with a cloth to get rid of the sticky stuff

Looks great , Ther is a guide on how to do the grill.
Dark radio and Dark dash i would vinyl wrap the radio surround.
Nice looking car and Owner
Debadging is simple , all you need is a hair dryer over the badge to warm it up and some tooth floss , then just polish and wax after.

August 3, 2012, 12:46 pm
lol hey thanks for the advice (and compliments) guys

will look into the st grill more at weekend and I'm still a bit nervous about the debadging! lol people say it's pretty easy to do but I'd probably end up taking one of the letters off (the "z") and end up being too nervous to take the rest off incase I scratch something lol :/ plus a lot of people are saying to use loads of different things to get the residue stuff off after? and using floss or fishingline?? lol the cars been sprayed with that diamond brite stuff (rip off I know but I didnt pay for it) so will that affect how it will look after the badges come off?
Preee
August 3, 2012, 1:03 pm
Diamond brite is just a Polish , if it was done then they usually give a service pack with it to top it up. I very much doubt you would notice any marks left behind from the DB
I have de-badged , and the residue came off really easy with my finger nail , just keep it warm and it just peels off. then just a nice polish and wax and you will never know a badge has been there.

Best way to remove badges is nylon fishing wire as suggested by a mate who works in a body shop

. Where you get the badges from ?
qtcbd
August 3, 2012, 1:12 pm
someone on here gave me a website they came the next day lol its www.dmb.uk.com it's just gel overlays you heat up and they stick over the horrible blue ford badge they look really good I'm happy with them

and thanks for the nylon fishing wire... I'm gonna have a go at doing it tomorrow I think if I decide otherwise I will rope my friend in to do it for me, and I'll stick some pics up after

August 3, 2012, 1:45 pm
dental floss or a credit card removes the badges to be fair most come off easily with youre finger and take most of the adhesive with them to remove the glue i use sticky stuff remover you get it in asda etc its natural ingrediants so doesnt damage paint also 3in1 oil is fab for removing it to

Welcome to the forum,
focus is looking sweet, nice choice of colour, the front grills, fog surrounds and rear diffuser would look fantastic in gloss black along with the door handles, really set the car off nicely.

its a very easy and rewarding mod, see my guide in the list below my posts.

I firmly believe in equality.
It's amazing what i've learned about my car since joining this forum.
Saying that though, there are a lot of things i will gladly leave to a Garage.
At least if they cock it up they have to fix it.
If i cock it up i incur the wrath of my wife.

PMSL!!!! haha ok ok fair enough, yeah thing is, I'm a perfectionist and things need to be done properly I hate "bodging" and "half a job bob" type of people lol like if they break something they just try and cover it up, even if you can;t see it I'd still know it was broken

so hence why I don't trust a lot of people fiddling about with my car! lol
Stoney871
August 3, 2012, 5:38 pm
Find a good garage with mechanics that take pride in their work.
Theres only one place i trust to do my car and they have never let me down.
One of my brothers in law owns a garage and i wouldn't trust him to butter toast.
He cocked up an old Honda i had a few years ago, it was a cracking car with a small leak in the inlet manifold gasket and he did such a bad job of replacing the gasket i ended up selling the car in frustration.
Worryingly enough my parents still go to him (out of loyalty i suppose), despite my warnings.

August 3, 2012, 5:45 pm
that is pretty bad

thing is it feels like everyone is just out to make a quick buck now, a family friend ripped me off 1200 quid for some stuff i had done to my astra, how he left my motor??? with the keys on the wheel and his son text me to say he'd gone to america (presumably with my money) to continue his american muscle import business...... was not happy but couldn't do anything

, ever since I've been kinda weary.... finding a good mechanic is hard these days! grrrrr
