a big thanks to someone who may or may not want to be named but as a result of there genorosity i have now fitted with the 12v socket fitted inside not so easy as some ahem had glued it so it took a lot of swearing to finally get it out and refitted

this left my centre console led spare so i did this instead

and i decided to add these to take the plainess away from the sides and tie everything in
Lenny
looks very tidy mate,
i wish i had the same ammount of Red S'es that you have lol but their not cheap.
some silvatec w5w bulbs would look good in your side repeaters too.

They are there on all Mk2 Focuses, not sure what they are for - often wondered myself
artscot79
i thought that they draw air from the cabin to check the moisture had one on my vw and thats what it was for on that im assuming anyway either that or ford saved 1p in plastic putting slits in lol
Brigante
Whey hey you finally got a garage door then mate
artscot79
finally i started to wonder if they were a myth like atlantis lol
Brigante
Lmao fair play mate. Did someone buy it your or somthing? How much was it?
artscot79
it was bought for me and i have no idea how much it was a bit of a bargain im lead to believe

Thanks, makes a lot of sense.
A Citroen Xsara I used to own had the same thing but never knew what it was for.
They should put these things in the handbook, for geeks like us who want to know...

It make sense, But has anybody had a look behind the slots to see what is there? Sometimes these slots house a microphone connected to the radio to adjust the volume as the cabin noise rises.
artscot79
thats possible also as mine does go up dependant on road noise
jgriff
There's nothing behind it at all
artscot79
not attatched to the back most likely whatever it is is tucked away ford dont put things on for no reason if they can save money
jgriff
Here's a pic from the back of it. Trying this on the phone so hope it works

That cone shape from the slots does appear to have a purpose or it would not have that shape, maybe it only has a use on some trim levels, or does it funnel noise or air to some other sensor?
artscot79
it could be for climate control and normally house a small fan that sucks the air in to check humidity and interior temp
