This light is on all the time is it - just a service light or something more serious.
Does anyone know the answer to this

Yes, it means somethings very wrong. Dont drive it until the cars been looked at and a code read done. Could be any of a hundred things wrong with it. Is it not showing any symptoms??

Well somethings definitely wrong, its not just a service light.

There is a good chance that it is just your Lambda sensor, aka oxygen sensor, that would cause your engine managment light to come on, it's not overly serious, but better to get it fixed, either way you should take it to a garage to get it checked out!
