I have a 2006 Focus that is still within its warranty till December 2009, I noticed that the N/Side head light now has condensation behind the lens cover. I called my local Ford Dealer who said that this wouldn't be covered under the warranty and I would have to pay for it myself! Does anyone know if this is true or even if someone has come across this problem before.

Cheers
Does anyone know if this is true or even if someone has come across this problem before.
Which problem? Headlight condensation, or Ford not honouring warranties?

The latter, yes. They're very good at it. You've more chance of getting Robert Mugabe to set up a children's home for white orphans whose parents were killed in mysterious farming accidents.

Someone on this forum has stated that FORD only cover the engine/gearbox area after the first year, as far as breakdowns are concerned. "Trim" is used as a let-out category, generally.
Some paint problems have been honoured, however, and batteries and tyres are covered by their manufacturers.
Personally, I think all Japanese brands, have a vastly more responsible attitude to customer relations, but in many cases it is the individual dealership which earns the reputation. My own experience of VAG dealers, also shows patchiness, all across the U.K.
Toyota has recently drafted-in a senior man from LEXUS, to front TOYOTA G.B. customer relations dept., who were clearly relying on their dealers too much.
SEAT, FIAT, and ALFA ROMEO have been dumping dealers, and recruiting better ones.

Do you know why the condensation is there? Have they told you what causes it?

If the new part is exactly the same as the old one though it wont last much longer than the original one unless they have done something to cure the problem.

It'll most likely be the seal on the rear cover of the headlight unit thats fooked.
