Hi there I'm new to this site, wondering if anyone can help,my car has gone into limp mode and got engine malfunction warning on,also am getting fault code p242f which have tried resetting and is to do with the dpf being blocked or a problem with the sensors,is it possible to remove the dpf and clean it or replace it and the sensors? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Regards

as the dpf is part of the exhaust system, its self cleaning by a system called the regenerating process, where the exhaust heats upto a certain temp (above normal temp) and starts burning all the crap inside then throws it out..... have you checked the elios fluid? the way it regen's is a good thrash down local motor way ie 70 in 3rd for a few miles.....

to replace a dpf, a cheap version (car dependant) on the bay are around the 2-300 mark..... if you went ford you would be looking about 6-700 maybe......

Hi thanks for that, where would the eloys tank be in my car, can't get rid of the fault code or the limp mode at the mo so a good thrash down the motorway might not be an option unfortunately,is that dpf cleaner stuff any good?

im unsure as mine doesnt have a dpf fitted...... but from what i have read they are more trouble then they are worth.... depends on how the car has been looked after i suppose.... you can have this removed/taken off have the insides cut out and seam welded back up.... BUT then you will need to have the car re-mapped due to the lack of filter there, for a sensor to pick up

Ah right ok,cheers might try give it a go,but have found an online shop selling dpf for just under 200 quid,
Thanks for the info will repost if I can get it sorted

Keep this site updated, this I reckon is going to become a new Dual Mass Flywheel situation. Everyone starts realising their cars are due and expensive part replacing which may not be obvious until its too late.

The EOLYS fluid is stored in a smaller tank alongside the fuel tank. if you get under the car you should see it, I cant recall the exact action of topping it up and how to put the fluid in. Unfortunately the Haynes manual for my CMAX just says "speak to a specialist..."
