Ford Owners Club - Ford Forums > Ford Models > Ford Focus Club
Hi All
My focus seems to not like cold mornings anymore, it cranks over ok, and manages to fire up after a while, but it splutters and chugs into life and will not tick ove smoothley until its warmed up a little. Could it be glow plugs or fuel filter or both.
On my old diesel I had it was doing something very similar and I replaced the glow plugs and put a new battery in and it did the job
Diesel can go waxy in the fuel filter... They arent much to replace so always worth a go!!

That and glow plugs, and check the battery.
how many years has your battery and your glow plugs
Battery and glow plugs are 6 years old
Deffo go for the glow plugs first, exactly the same symptoms with mine a few months back, similar age car too, and all was well again.
Yup change your plugs and battery at the same time and you'll be allright for years
