My daughter was out in the car last night and appeared that the battery had died. I went to it this morning and awaited for the recovery vehicle. No electrics working at all, recovery chap put jump leads on and awai it started. Left if for a minute, turned engine off to see if it would restart. It would not restart, it came up with engine malfunction and the PATS code was 1:6. Any ideas on what could be the problem?

Thanks in advance.
Sounds like a dead battery; did the recovery man offer any thoughts?

Completely dead battery with a completely dead alternator I would say.

Winter and the cold is especially hard on batteries. Not only with all the electrics people run (heated screens etc) but the cold is a number one killer for failing batteries. The alternator will be working especially hard to replenish the battery, and will most likely cook itself in the process.
