Have 1998 1.6 zetec engine, at the first start of the day the engine will fire and the revs will climb to 2k to 2.5k and after about 20 or so seconds they will start to lower to a normal level, every time you start the engine during the rest of the day all is normal unless the car has been left for 2 plus hours, then it will start with the high revs again. any suggestions please?[/font][/size][/b]

Could be the ICV needs cleaning or the MAF or even a split hose, although most of these would cause it to happen all the time.
