Full Version: Which Spark Plugs Are Best For An 04 1.6 Focus Fydb
Ford Owners Club - Ford Forums > Ford Models > Ford Focus Club
Hi All

Looking at changing the plugs in my Focus

I see there is a couple of different trains of thought with reguards to which plugs are best

I have been using Bosch super 4 purely to make life easy for the coil pack, as it failed in 2009 and was replaced with an intermotor coil (cheap and nasty in my eyes) however it has worked fine.

I am planning on fitting a new coil and leads (Bosch) as part of the next service

I like the idea of NGK iridium spark plugs but would very much like your thoughts on this
also would these need to be gapped at 1.0mm as usual
the 2004 mk1.5 focus uses ngk plugs even the ford ones are ngk and yes the gap is 1.0mm
Cheers for confirming that Artscot :-)
Whats your thoughts on the Iridium plugs over standard plugs?
the laser iridium in my opinion were better than standard i never had starting issues the plugs seem to last longer up till then i changed them every year after the iridium they still didnt need changed after 2[list]
[*]Laser welded Iridium center electrode tip
[*]Platinum disc welded to backside of ground electrode provides long life
[*]Trivalent Metal Plating for superior anti-corrosion and anti-seizing
[*]Faster starts and quicker acceleration
[*]Better fuel economy and lower emissions
[*]Best OEM Iridium spark plug available
[*]Original Equipment Manufacturer approved design
i would approve of the above from using them in the past

the ngk iridium plugs should be LTR5IX-11
standard are tr5a-10
