My speedometer stopped working and the ABS light came on. Local Ford garage has diagnosed ABS unit faillure. The car is 3 months out of warranty and has 17500 miles on the clock. Is this a common problem or just bad luck. Repair is nearly £600.

Think its just really bad luck 
The units aren't cheap and they are a bit of a pain to replace so they will b charging you a few hours labour as well
