Ive been a dedicated member of FOC since purchasing my Mk2.5 focus 1.6TDCi in September 2010

I'm now a moderator on the forum and have created many small modification guides which can be download in PDF format making them even easier to follow.

Below is my Build thread.
It contains images of my Ford from its first day of purchase in 2010 right up to today and continuosly updated as I add more to it.

Here is my Build:

As my focus build approahes its finishing touches later this year 2013.
I've decided to take the time to finally create a build thread in picture,
Grab a cup of tea its picture heavy.

Purchase in September 2010



First mod: Titanium spec front lower grill





Colour code rear view mirror





Then the hard winter in 2010/2011 called for use of snow chains,
Looked Good imo but ESP didn't help.





Later in january 2011 it was Snow more lol



Custom ZetecS rear seat cover



ST/ZetecS rear spoiler




Club Membership



CreeQ5 reverse bulb




Custom climate control knobs




l.e.d glove box light



Laser cut brushed stainless vent surrounds and glove box plate,





Mist type windscreen washer jets



Additional boot light




The build was then put on hold due to loss of occupation in late 2011
Resulted in the focus being put in storage for five months, while keeping partners car on the road,








Five long months later, we were back on the road :) and onwards with the build.




l.e.d cup holder illumination



Illuminated ignition ring





Fitted illuminating switch in dash pocket to power cup holder l.e.d aswell as illuminate the pocket worked well as it also illuminates the dash pocket.




Removed rear badge to fit brake light badge surround, also got in touch with DMB Graphics for a custom orderd "Focus" badge overlay ;)







Fitted Genuine Ford LHD Reverse light housing to use as a clear fog light unit with second reverse light also fitted.
Later updated with an "auto-off" drl relay fitted to the rear fog light wiring loom,
So as if the rear fog light is switched ON
And the car is put in to reverse,
The "auto-off" relay will switch off the rear fog light while reverse is active, then switch the fog back on when driving forwards or in neutral.





Retro Fitted ST/RS dash pod with custom fitted ford racing boost gauge and oil pressure,
Then fitted a drl auto dimmer relay,
The gauges illuminate 100% during the day, then auto dim to 50% at night to reduce glare aswell as blend in with the standard dash illumination functionality's very happy with results on this.









Took some figuring out on how to fit the gauges to sit correctly, but got there in the end,
Cut two pods and bolted togeather, then positioned in perspex wrapped in matt black vynil






Upgrade from standard Ford 6000CD to Ford Premium Sony 6Cd Stereo,
Sounds much better and stores more music



Changed heater vents to titanium spec with brushed chrome plates enhances the interior a bit more.



Fitted 12V socket in boot, the loom is already there in all spec focus 05-11 just require the 12v socket and an earth feed.





Fitted custom built rear footwell lighting and "bird bath" illumination






Fitted Cree H11 front fog bulbs 6000k match the parking bulbs nicely.
Straight swap from standard H11 bulbs.




Fitted drl fog light surround units,
Mounted control boxs to rear of battery box out of view, and switch to dash pocket just encase I ever need to drive with them off.









Fitted Genuine Focus Zetec S body kit imported from fordpartsuk.com as the zetecS is not available to purchase in Ireland.









Fitted some custom built zetecS/ST mud flaps to protect the body these were worth every penny, still as new today.






Re-badged the rear to go with the new style.







Fitted Custom Built Piper 2.5" T304 stainless steel DPF back duplex exhaust with twin 4" oval tips,
Green performance induction filter and remap to 120bhp 278nm Torque,
Very Happy!!








ST primed bonnet lip and Custom built TriplrRcomposites ZetecS front Splitter supplied in Gloss black.

Got the bonnet lip colour coded aswell as the engine bay covers, also fitted upper and lower zetecS grills having them sprayed gloss black along with the fog surrounds,
The results were better than expected.






Purchased some black headlights to replace the chrome ones made a huge difference to the shape,
Fitted them with Osram Night Breaker H1 and H7 aswell as some black housed 6000kelvin T10 parking bulbs, highly recommend the Osram Nightbreaker bulbs,
Before fitting the black headlights I left them in body shop to get the browe line colour coded,
Looks much better imo and keeping the chrome units in storage for MOT purposes encase they don't like the painted browe.











When purchasing the focus a requested the full size 16" spare wheel pack,



I've now removed this as I'm soon fitting some 18" rims and got a good deal on AA roadside assistance,
Purchased a spare tyre well pad filler from a mk1 RS focus to fill the empty space in the boot floor much lighter than a full steel spare.




Painted front calipers with halfords red caliper paint and rear drums silver hammerite smooth finish.







Next modifications are:
Lowering springs, adjustable rear camber bolts, steering limiter kit and 18" ST3 rims,

Considering an St front end with tripleRcomposites front splitter, but id lose the drl's and quite possibly my missus lol

My engine and turbo etc. Are the same as you in the 1.6TDCi
But my model was a 90ps so I've gotta upgrade to 110ps injectors to get over 120 lol
The little 90ps injectors are tryin their best for me god bless em lol

I don't think the 110 was an option over here,
It was , 1.6TDCi focus (90ps) and no 1.6TDCi fiesta's just the 1.4TDCi

No still got a dpf for the present time anyways lol id like to get internals removed but unsure,

Excellent post, and congratulations for all your hard work.

Mods are always a matter of personal taste, what's most important to me is that they are done properly - by which I mean no bodge jobs held on with cable ties - and you have certainly done quality work on your car, and you should be proud of the results!

Its been a long enjoyable journey, minus the two trips to the doctors surgery lol
Id do it all again in a hearbeat very enjoyable and I was lucky the st pod turned out 90% ok lol that was a ball clenching 11 hours of cutting and cups of tea,

I've created a Guide on fitting the second reverse light in to a clear unit,
The Dremil style crafting tool is king for this type of modification aswell as cutting the dash,

looks well good lenny!! ST front bumper with them wheels on would look soooooooo good! just buy it!! :) i want a splitter for my bumper dident even know you could get one fot the ST bumper!

Yes it is very addictive, id love to be content just to have a basic car for driving, no modifications and could just park it anywhere no worry,

Their not as hard as they look mate,
Key to all of them is take your time, and when cutting holes, cut a small hole then bore it out to the required size constantly stopping and trail fitment, this way you never cut too big and get a good fit,

Many sacrafices have been made in the course of modification including beer, I ain't had a pint since 25th December but I'll celebrate when the wheels are on and lowerd,
I admire you for modding but not going crazy on the motor, the resistance I don't have personally as you can see on page 1 lol

lol, the not going crazy is purely down to lack of funds ;) given half a chance I would have spent thousands on it thus far! or at least, I would have bought a better model and then modded it :p

If I had one more suggestion for a mod, it would be a recaro/ST interior for the car. That I think would be the cherry on top :)

I'm looking forward to the fitting of wheels and springs, just need the tyres now and the funds,
all going well 05th April I'll have tyres on the rims and fitted to the car,
followed by a service and lowering in early May.

but I don't smoke or drink often, piece by piece I chipped away at my e-bay wish list surprisingly addictive though,

I would like a black leather Recaro interior with a custom lined swade roof lining,
But the shipping cost on a facelift ST 5 door interior including door cards would be a serious cost in its own,

That could be disappointing in two ways,
1. If she notices at the airport then its a long silent trip home,
2. If she doesnt notice and admire the enhancement then that can be disappointing too.

Not too bothered about my own appearance focus and the missus are easier on the eye than myself lol

Quick update
The18" ST Snow Flake have been fitted today,
I've only got two images at the moment as I'm now awake 24 hours since working nights this week I've finished work at 7am then got wheels done followed by packing up the 16'' for sale,
So here are the pics and I'll add more at the weekend, I'm now off to get some sleep before work at 11pm

+1 exactly what i was going to say, rear discs are more hassle than they are worth for a realatively lighweight road car,  drums are cheaper, easier to maintain and simpler (especially for handbrake etc) Obviously discs are better for ultimate braking/ fade resistance on a high performance or heavier car/ towing but most of the braking is done by the fronts on a FWD car anyway

Not far wrong there mate,
Bed is so under-rated lol I could have done without sleeping yesterday as I had so many things to do,
I was under presure to get the 16's balance checked and ensure theirs no buckles which the results came up 100% clear, then had to get them valeted to remove all trace of tar and polish them followed by parceling up the 16" for dispatch took 5 hours now seems the sale won't follow through, non responsive so their going on e-bay tomorrow.
Very annoying as I could have slept yesterday instead of packaging four wheels that are now going nowhere, had the buyer made contact.
Very well packed though, look like giant "baby belle" cheese.

Have you lowerd yours ? If yes have you got any pictures from the side of the ride height,
And regarding the rear drums/calipers my focus was a "STYLE" model from ford at time of purchase, it would be higher than "climate" but lower than "ZETEC"
I was looking at zetec spec but I got a 2,000euro off cash deal on the "STYLE" it has heated windscreen, electric windows,bluetooth,voice control,air-con and the 16" snow flake alloys, only things it doesn't have that the "ZETEC" does is: rear discs and sports springs, but I'm set to eliminate one of those final diferences next month, so the only thing missing is rear discs and calipers,

I agree rear discs would be nice and enhance the look of the car but I must draw a line somewhere lol

I'm taking a modification holiday in june until october, I've been spending every spare cent on it since 2010 and I've loved every day of it, but its time for a break for a bit and enjoy the existing mods.

Looks awesome! How does the car drive like more importantly with the new tyres? And are the new springs and camber bolt on?

Its not lowerd yet lol I'm starting to wonder if it will be ok to lower it since she's riding close enough to the arches,
But the ford endorced eibach kit is a 40mm drop so that will drop the car by the same amount as the side wall on the tyres so will be fine plus its all ford parts so should be compatable togeather .
Lowering and camber arranged for mid May.

Before:

The grip is very strong, cornering has no body roll or lean,
Steering turn in is reduced so the car now turns a wider radius on full lock,
However camber adjustment and lowering may help this turn and lean.
Torque is more direct to the road now the car doesn't squat when you put the foot down.
Steering feels a little heavy compared to the 6.5" wide 16" wheels these 8" wide make it feel a small bit more effort to turn.
And finally take off speed is slightly slower due to the bigger wheels , I mean diesels always need to be pushed in 1st and 2nd gear but I notice it a tad more with the 18x8
Handling at speed and grip top top class,
160kmh on 18's feels like 110kmh on 16's perhaps due to the 18's having a 2" less side wall profile theirs no tyre squat at speed.
And here's one advantage you wouldn't think of;
The exhaust is now louder!
The bigger rims allow more sound to travel from the rear arches where the bigger rubber tyre side wall would absorb the noise, plus the car is currently 0.4" higher than previously.

or she's beginning to like the mods,

The cost would spiral when fitting rear discs with ne handbrake cable , hubs, brake lines, calipers, pads, discs, balance and tracking overall around 4-500 including labour and that's for second hand calipers with fingers crossed and butt clenched that they are reliable second hand calipers.
Not worth it for that money I could upgrade the fronts to AP Racing 4 pots.

lol often tempted but would never venture,
I'm worried about lowering mate,
I've spent 190pounds on eibach springs and camber though,
Would a 40mm drop be too much ?
Would I gain anything from lowering it ?
