So here's the deal, after exactly 95 days since ford confirmed my order until today, in 2.5 hours time I am going to the dealership to collect my new ST-2 in frozen white. The 95 days has given me plenty of time to research lots of the mods I want to do. The sun is shining so the mods will begin today! I thought I would start this topic so that later on today I can just start posting before/after pictures of the car.

I am happy to take any suggestions and will feedback any help I can if people are interested in the mods I'm doing.

I'll leave it there for now but hopefully have plenty of pics to post in the upcoming hours/days/weeks and months.

Enjoy!

Looking forward to.seeing this ill delete this comment when youve read it so as not to ruin the thread :)

went for 10000k in the fog as was going to go for 10's in the main headlights too, looked cool (blue) but light output was poop so went for 6000k in the main headlights!!! Awesome output now!! not much difference between the colour of the main headlights and fogs but may go replace the fogs with 6000k bulbs at some point. Anyway below is what I currently have in the fogs!

"Finally have you changed your main headlight bulbs?"

yup, and here's the kit I used :- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-HID-Ballast-Xenon-white-bulbs-Head-Light-H7-6000K-Single-beams-398M-KIT-35W-/171067480184?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27d46a9878

PS - Invest in some good cable ties....makes securing all the ballasts much easier.  :D

haha! funny was having that conversation with a friend yesterday...got them for free...at least this car was developed at the ring so at least it belongs on this car more than on a peugeot 106!! =) but nah seriously more for jokes than anything as I had them so just stuck them on...promise they will go once Ive got a few more personal touches on the car and it looks a bit more non-standard!!

Ollies122
Ha ill hold you to that otherwise ill bring a heat gun up to the meet and take them off whilst your not looking ;)

Fancy smoking my indicators out?

Thats a great shout!! Just want something personal in the corner of the back window but would rip of the nurburgring vinyl for a decent wales outline in a heartbeat!!
Ollies122

And whilst your at it sort my lights and indicators out as I CBA!

Some more pics from today, Firstly some headlights pics :-

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6063]

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6064]

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6065]

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6066]

Now for my big mod of the day, new led rear lights, designed for the pre-facelift mk7 so some minor custom modding required :-

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6067]

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6068]

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6069]

Also the minor mod of the day, a little welsh touch to the car :-

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6070]

And finally the current mileage and also the first significant mileage number :-

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6071]

On the downside for today, turns out both my drls work when my ignition is it second position...i.e all the electrics switched on...but as soon as I start the engine the passenger side drl turns off!!  :unsure: taken out all the HID's and back to original bulbs in case a trip to Fords is required. question is do I strip off all the fly eyes in case ford think ive been messing about with the drl's and don't cover it under warranty?? Booooo!! not happy!!

welshy_maverick

Okay so today's mods, Stripes fitted to the two sides of the car:-

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6073]

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6074]

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6075]

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6076]

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6077]

Custom Vinyl Fitted To Near Side Of The Windscreen:-

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6078]

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6079]

That's All For Now...More To Come Soon!!  :rolleyes:

Update: In the vein of staying fully legal / Insured, after Ford fixed my DRL's I decided not to put the HID upgrades back in and risk my policy as that was the only mod that has not been declared. So after lots of searching and making a decision I bought 3 set of Phillips Diamond Vision 5000k Bulbs, for Dipped, Full and Fogs. So £60 less well off... :huh:...I am very happy with the results...

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6177]

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:6178]

Yay for staying legal!!  :wacko:

Looks lovely

Fiesta ST Headlights Update :- After removing the HID Xenon upgrade as is was the only item on the car not insured, I replaced the dipped, full and fogs with Phillips Diamond Vision 5000k bulbs which I was happy with as they are the best and whitest halogen bulb upgrade I've come across. However after calling my insurance it turned out the would insure me to upgrade to HID Xenons with no change to the premium!! :D  So last night out came all the bulbs and back in went the HID Xenon Upgrades. Trialing the Phillips Diamond Vision H1 5000K bulbs for the full beams though.

Moral of the story : never hurts to ask your insurer the question...the answer may surprise you!!  ^_^

They have agreed to cover it without self levelers and washers installed? Surely that makes it an illegal mod which won't be covered then? Just wondering as if I would declare it to mine if they let me

Well interesting, I told the guy that I had added HID's and he went to check with their technical department, he then came back and said "are they xenons?" I said yes, he went to speak to them again, then said they are a non rated modification and they were added to my notes. Confirmed this morning that they had been added, calls are recorded so not my problem now. Do you need auto levellers and washers to make them legal or to pass an MOT though? Wont even have the car by the time its dues for it's first one. Dunno what to do now, they ok'd it and added it to my policy notes, surely that's not my problem now? They are in projector headlights so cant dazzle anyone and never been flashed with them...:-s

 As a follow up to your question I would like to link you to this:-

http://www.corsa-c.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?358783-New-MOT-law-regarding-HIDS-April-2012

so as of April 2012 they are legal as long as they are aligned properly (but that would only hinder and MOT test if they wernt, though you could risk a £30 fine is PC plod thinks they are not aligned). As for your levellers and washer jets query, they only need to be operational if your  car has them fitted which the fiesta does not. So make sure their aligned then decalare away!!

Awesomeness!! :D Looks like mine are staying in!!

Merv130
Im not so sure as I know of a few people who have Subaru imprezzas with xenons as standard but they don't have washer jets.

To pass the mot they have had to install washers for them. This is as recent as a couple of weeks ago. In N.I. though,we have to go to a test center instead of a garage.

Still raises questions to the legality of them if an accident were to occur.

Ive just had clarfication from someone in the know, If a car is brand new and the factory is fitting them with HID's they must now fit auto levellers and washer jets AND they must both be fully fuctional to make it legal and pass and MOT. HOWEVER if the car is new/old and does not have them as a factory fit and they are added later they DO NOT require washer jets/auto levellers but the beam pattern must stil be correct...only way to do that is with projector headlights that are correctly aligned. It is that simple!! Same as DRL's new cars that are not fitted with them but you can retro fit to old cars as long as you follow the correct guidelines (the turn on with the engine, not a seperate switch etc). Thats why my insurance were happy for me to add them to my poiicy yesterday as they are legal to retro fit to a vehicle without levellers/washer jets its my responsibility to get them aligned in the projector housings correctly!!
