I don't know what your prob is mate but I hope it's not too serious.

My mate got hit with a 100 fine yesterday n points for holding his phone whilst driving, the copper even admits he wasn't texting or holding it upto his ear but none the less the body of the phone was in his hand, another got hit with 50 fog lights fine.

Plain cloths bobbies are cracking down hard

Stay safe fellow ford owners ;- ) and good luck oliver

I got pulled tonight for doing 31 in a 30 zone... I actually couldn't believe it, it was genuinely hard to be polite and keep a straight face... needless to say I've recorded everything and will be making my thoughts known tomorrow.

Stoney871
31? Even I think that's pedantic.
jeebowhite

Clearly the officers where bored.

Did you just get a tick in the ear?

I always thought there was a 'Speedlimit + 10%' unwritten rule?

Must be worth an appeal?

Stoney871
You can go 10% above the speed shown on your speedo as they are calibrated to over read.
It's standard industry practice to avoid getting sued if they under read.
We also used to allow a couple of mph extra too but not anymore.
TDCiST
The couple extra is now normally the buffer for the speed awareness course if I'm right Stoney...
Stoney871
Pretty much yes.

The criteria used for assessing eligibility for the speed awareness course is speed within range of speed limit + 10% + 2mph to speed limit + 10% +6mph. i.e. in a 30 mph limit 35 - 39 mph, also you must not have completed a previous course within the last 3 years and the offender must have identified themselves to police by fully complying with legal requirements under Section 172 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and is able to be referred to the course provider within 95 days of the alleged offence.

Have had a couple of friends do the course... They said it was an eye opener and well worth doing.

Don't know if it will slow them forever but I suppose it helps
To highlight the dangers and see images etc rather than just smack some points on the livense

I once got speed checked by a copper at the bottom of a hill on my way to devon, one of the scariest moments of my life traveled this road many times and i always stayed at 70 down the hill for some reason on that one day for the first and last time i booted it a copper was pointing his hand held right at me as i drove past, never got anything and that was 2 years ago.

That was my wake up call now a days i tell off young drivers in my family for speeding lol

I got pulled over and breathalysed for ...wait for it... a blown bulb last year.

Surrey Police must have been having a quiet time that night...

By all means, pull me over and say, "Do you know that your car has a blown bulb?" to which my response would be "Blimey, no! Here: hold this torch while I retrieve the spare bulb kit from the boot."

But ... BREATHALYSED???

(Being pulled over for a blown bulb is a 'Traffic Offence' according to Mr. Police Man, and that requires breathalysing. ... EH???)

Stoney871
Having a defective light is an offence underThe Road Vehicles Lighting (Amendment) Regulations 1994 and carries a non endorsable penalty of a £30 fine but is subject to the Officers discretion (basically whether you pass the attitude test).
You would have been breathalysed due to the annual seasonal drink drive campaign.
B13
Ah! Fair enough.

:)

It was funny though. I was driving 'in convoy' with a pal of mine and when she saw me get pulled over, she carried on driving!! No stopping to help a pal in need, oh no, not her: she legged it!!

Charming!!

:D

cars are weapons at the end of the day ...id rat out my own mother for speeding or drink driving...so many muppets only think about themselves...no harm in coppers coming down hard on people!!!!

A few years ago, I was pulled for speeding, the road I was on is a nightmare with parked cars all down one side and a park on the other so you have to keep your eyes on the cars for kids running out, anyway I looked ahead and this guy with a green high vis jacket and helmet walked out in front of me pointing something at me, I was thinking who the hell is this guy, I didnt even click on till he put his hand up to motion me to stop then I was crap am I speeding, he asked me what the speed limit on the road was i was on so I replied 30, he then turned the gun around so I could read it and asked why I was doing 36, I explained I was sorry but I was watching the parked cars for kids running out and not at my speedo, to which he said thats why he was there, he told me to keep my speed down and have a nice day and I carried on with my Journey,

Stoney871
The 'attitude test' works well for me.
If you tell the truth, don't try bulling be or telling me to catch real criminals then I'm nice as can be and will use my judgement, usually letting you go with 'suitable' words of advice.
Get funny with me or take the pee and gloves come off.
Some motorists are their own worst enemy, and argue their way into trouble.
I pride myself on being a nice guy but my teeth will come out if some chopper pushes their luck.
