there is about 10mm free play were the strut gose through the inner wing at the mount if you jack the car up the strut drops 10mm back in to place take hold of wheel as if to check wheel bearing tpo to bottom the strut moves up & down took it back to garage they say its ok
any one shed any light

It sounds like the strut rubbers/mounts are worn...about a tenner a side plus labour..
