Help!

I am taking delivery of a new Galaxy and was wandering if a tow bar from an older model could be fitted to the new shape?

according to the book there is one tow bar up to 06 reg and then it changes to a different fitting, also on the later models it states that a bumper cut is required to fit the bar.
