OK RED or BLUE.

When i bought my focus a little over two month ago the bloke before me had the timing belt done, and the garage didn't put any anti-freeze in.... so with winter not to far in the distance i think it's time i put some in..... so hence my question....RED or BLUE.

Hi ben... there's none in the system at all .... so i'll just replace it with red.

If it's just water in there, I'd still be inclined to flush it out!!

Ford sell the Motorcraft stuff which (allegedly) has an indefinite lifespan - and it's not that much more than Halfords.

You've been running the car for two months with no antifreeze?

You need anti-freeze in at all times.
It is designed to increase the boiling temperature of water as well as lower the point at which the water will freeze.
Without anti-freeze in you run a severe risk of the engine overheating and cracking the block.
You really need to get it sorted out before you drive the car again.
You could end up causing damage that will cost big money.

Personally I would be draining the system and starting a fresh with either the orange/pink coolant or the new purple stuff from ford. As long as it's OAT it will be fine.

Well got the pink stuff....drain cleaned and reverse flushed the system ..... new anti-freeze in and ready for the winter.

cheers chaps for the advice..... :driving:

just keep an eye out for overheating now. As you have filled the system with the proper stuff now, you might find that the heating and pressure build up and it might start to misbehave!
