I have a 1998 Turbo Diesel escort. There is a problem with air getting into the fuel system and creating poor running. The fuel line from the filter to the pump has been replaced and you can see the air bubles going down to the pump the engine then runs rough. I have been told the primer button on the filter can deteriate and then let in air. Is this true and is there anything else i should look for?
Thanks.

Yes the fuel prime is the usual suspect, the other option is the pipes from the fuel pump to the injectors. Check these are not perished and check all the connections are air tight

Thanks. Is there any way of repairing. I have been quoted £74 or £140 depending on type from Ford. Seems high if it's not the prblem.
