I have an 2004 streetka which when the alarm goes off it doesn't sound.

check the fuse for the alarm sounder.

if i remember right the sounder is connected to the alarm controlle module which is located in the luggage compartment behind the offside trim.

I think that's right. It is hidden in there somewhere.
