Hi I'm new here and haven't had a Ford since the seventies.I spend a bit of time in Spain and have hired cars for the last couple of years,however recently it has become very expensive,so I decided to buy a car,and bought an 06 base model 1600 petrol Focus 2 privately. I am very happy with the car it drives very well,I am however not so happy with Ford .I decided to play safe and change the oil and air filters ,so I went to my local main dealer in the UK and asked for these. I gave the storeman my vin number ,his computer identified my car correctly LHD colour red 1600 petrol etc,however it insists that it has a ZETEC engine and cambelt.Whilst researching this car prior to purchase I thought I had understood that this model had a DURATEC chain cam engine and that after about 2003 the term ZETEC was only used to describe the trim level of the car all engines were duratec or duratourq.Computer says no .storeman looks blank .Honest John in the DT confirmed to me very kindly that my car has a Mazda derived DURATEC chain cam ,Ford say it has a ZETEC engine ,my handbook says it has a DURATEC engine. One day it may be very important that I know and am able to order parts correctly how can I do this if Ford's database is incorrect. Does anyone know what the aswer is?

I dont have the answer but what i do know is that the words, ford, main dealers and arseholes, fit in the same sentence perfectly, good luck with the search Ryan!
p.s. the engine name is usually writen on the top of the engine as mine has duratec on the top!

Hi thanks for your replies,I didn't realise that so much cross checking and research was neccessary when buying a Ford no wonder there is no Haynes manual out yet I imagine they are totally confused.My original information came from [url="http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/index.htm?md=686"]http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/index.htm?md=686[/url] I have since e-mailed the man himself and he confirms that the information there is correct and I have a chain cam engine . I am off to Spain tomorrow so I can have a look myself. My one consolation I suppose is that if it is a belt ,it should do the best part of 100000 miles which is more than most.
