  1. Sorry I have no idea, not sure my mom really knew, or if she did she didnt tell me. I vaguley remember it was some sort of sensor but what I dont know, but it was this time last year i think.
  2. The only thing I can suggest is to contact Ford directly! this is what worked for my mom, the garage were useless! They got back to her after a few weeks and then sent parts to the dealership who fitted them. She hasnt had any problems since (touch wood).
  3. Thanks for taking the time to give me such detailed info Dark Knight! Ford rang her back this week and sent parts to the dealer. So today she has taken the car to the dealer and they have fitted these parts. She got home without any problems, which given recent outings is an improvement, so hopefully the problem has been resolved. If not then the info you have posted will come in very handy as I think she may well have had enough! I'll let you know if the problem has been resolved with todays actions. Thanks again :)
  4. So a quick update on this. The problem was getting worse not better, and the engine light coming on more often, so last week she called Ford direct, following advice from here, explained the problem, and it seems the dealer had not reported it at this time (a week after she took it to them). Who promised to call the dealer and then her back. A week later no call from Ford so she rang them again on Mon and told hem the car is no longer fit for purpose, and not happy So yesterday they did call her back and have sent some parts to the dealer so hopefully these will be fitted in the next few days, and the car will funtion normally again. Between this time, the warning sign and the engine cut offs were happening a lot more frequently (5 times in 20 miles), and i witnessed this on sat morning, she hadnt even gotten off our drive!! the message was on, and the engine was making wierd kind of convusling noises, as if pulsing on and off (difficult to expalin with out sound effects). she has recorded every time this has happened and the milage for amunition should she need it for amunition So it seems getting ford incolved is slow, but hopefully will sort the problem. Ill update if it does! thanks for all your help.
  5. OK ill tell her to mention that when she rings the garage tomorrow. If not i may get her to try a different garage. I think you may be right about them not being bothered as she is not a paying customer (warrently) part.
  6. Hi Guys thanks! I think she is going to call the garage back and if no joy call ford directly. Does anyone happen to know the appropriate number?? Today the message appeaered, and lost acceleration 3 times in 1 journey, and the last time the engine management light came on and didnt go off when she retared the car... She need to drive on the motor way in a few weeks and is getting quite nervous about it as obviously this car is not safe on the motorway. thanks
  7. Hi wondering if any of you have heard of/experienced this issue. My mom bought a 1 litre eco boost fiesta in December. a few months ago, on starting up, an error message came saying: engine malfunction, service soon. So this happened a few times, and the word malfunction is clearly worrying so she took it back into the dearlership where she bought it from, who put it on the computer but found no faults. They said they had reset the computer and this should not appear again. Roll on a few days and the message: engine malfunction service now came on, only this time the car lost acceleration, and she had to pull over to restart the engine. 4 days later this happened again so she took a picture of the message rang the dealer back and got it booked in to have it checked out again. In the mean time this has started to happen more frequently (upto 5 times a day) and almost every day! She took it back in and again they found no issue but said they think it might be a sensor that is being triggered and sending the engine into safe mode – hence the lack of acceleration. The garage have said they will get on to Ford about it, but not enough complaints for Ford to actually do anything about it... She had barely got out of the forecourt when it went again, she took it back but they didn’t seem interested to see the problem in action. Now obviously this is rather unsafe, and there is clearly something wrong with the car any advice on where to go from here. Many thanks
  8. Folding In Mirrors On New Titanium

Thank you, ill have a look in the menu tomorrow and see if i can reset it. Magenta, yes a coolant temp gague. I noticed this straight away and commented to the dealer. I have had a little drive today and its much nippier than my 1.4, looking forward to giving it a run up the motorway! The gears will take some getting used to, as when i changed to 4th at 30(ish) as habbit the engine was laboured. I also discovered the chnge gear arrow - its now in the trip computer display, not a light on the dash as in mine. It recommends changing to 4th at nearly 40 and 5th at 50... unlike mine which recommends chaning to 5th at about 38... But otherthan this not really much different to mine for feel. Ill ask if i can take some pics but not sure if ill get time until after xmas now.
  9. ok so can i pick your brains again. my mom picked up her shiny new (facelift) titanium today, however we realised that the mirrors do not fold in when she locks the car when we got home and locked it. This was one of the reasons for upgrading to titanium as her old car had this function and she needs it. we rang the dealer straight away but they didnt seem to think anything of it. She can press a button to fold them in when the car is running, but this is not really the point. So titanium owners do you know if the wing mirrors should automatically fold in (it is mentioned in the manual) when the car is locked?? Is there an option somewhere in the menu that allocates this?? or should we go back and make a fuss if it indeed should work? Some little things i noticed compared to my fiesta (new in April): There is now a temperature gauge! Its been put in the display with the trip computer. It that it doesnt seem to have the green arrow in which my car has to tell you when to change up gear. I though it odd as its an ecoboost car. Not sure if its a titanium thing (mines a zetec) but the needles are blue not red on the spedometer Dont like the shiny black plastic round the gear box and not sure about the storage box, or the new larger grill on the front. The sony radio seems more complicated then the one in mine, but ill just have to get used to it then teach mom properly. Just waiting to have a drive of it now, then i can a can let you know what i think about itn :) Thank you
  10. Ford Insurance

Thanks for your help as always.
  11. So my mom took the plunge and bought a new fiesta, and she rang up for the free ford insurance so she could get the car registered, and they have offered her a good deal for an annual policy including bridging insurance (or something similar) for the first year and offered to pay the cancellation fees from her current insurers. She rang her current insurers who couldn't match the quote so she is considering moving to the ford insurance. So, is it any good?? has anyone used it and know how helpful they are should a claim be made anyone heard and reviews (good or bad) about it? should she avoid it? any opinions gratefully received thanks
  12. So I asked a few weeks ago about the new shape fiesta and got some very helpful replies. So I'm hoping i can get some again. 13. Opinions On New Fiesta

Sorry been offline as had a few days away. Thanks for the OIl burner, the person telling her is hopefully confused with the diesel! We know the mpgs in the book are not realistic, and certainly not with my 1.4 fiesta which is 7 months old now. I also reckon the tests in labs dont take temperature into consideration, the cold in the last few weeks has really reduced my mpg :( thanks fasty, she test drove it at the weekend (unfortunatly iwas away so couldnt play) and she said it was very nippy, im not sure which of the 1 litre engines it was though. The stop start was odd - I'll reserve judgment until i have driven her car. I hadnt thought of the aircon and heater issues though I'll mention that to her. She bought it anyway not sure of the discout until i speak to her, but i know she ordered it in candy blue and it should be here byt he end of the month :)
  14. Opinions On New Fiesta

So my mom is thinking of upgrading from a 57 (not the old new fiesta the shape before) to the 'new' fiesta. She wanted to upgrade to the current fiesta on the end of line deals however she is being tempted by the titanium 1 litre ecoboost engine,as its less tax and more econimical on fuel etc (she currently has a 1.4 petrol). this atm is trumping the not so nice look. So what i would like your opinions on are: is this as good as they are making it out to be in terms of power and fuel consumtion?? Is it the same engine thats in the focus and the cmax? If so it must be quite nippy in a fiesta Somebody has also told her that if you do journeys of less than 8 miles the filters tend to block up which would be an issue as she mainly does shorter distances in traffic. Is this correct for the petrol engine or is this more specific to diesel engines?? Also any ideas of what kind of discounts i could expect for the new model?? I'm kinda wishing i hadnt upgraded eariler this year and waited for this engine, but having said that i love my fiesta. Thanks in advance!
  15. 1500 Mile Check Up

hi, can't say i have noticed anything untoward at 60 +, and I've done a fair few of the 1500 on mways and major roads so i should have picked up on anything obvious. To be honest I'm still getting used to it, but I am loving it in comparison to my old 53 reg! I am most likely going to get it checked - its free so can't hurt, (as long as they dont sting me with anything). I was mainly wondering what they do as its a faff to get from the garage to work... As Cxolin mentioned, at least it shows i am trying to look after the car
