For ages I've been looking for a simple way to be able to play MP3s in my Ford Cougar without ruining the "OEM look" or cutting dash, messing about with wires/adaptors etc. There is a version of the RDS 6000 head unit which has identical wiring to the usual one, but which plays MP3 files from a CD. This basically means you can have around 200 tracks on one CD instead of the usual 20ish! Anyway, I was looking for one of these for over a year, and suddenly 3 appear on Ebay! Needless to say one of these is now happily slotted into my Cougar's dash (2 minute job to swap with my existing unit, and it still wires up to the CD changer too!)...it looks like it should have always been there (unlike non-ford modern units with adapters to fit DIN 1.5), and it works like a dream. Is so cool to see the name of the song/artist etc scrolling across the display. Anyway, the point is, there are still two of these for sale on EBAY, and here are links to each of them. They will fit any Ford with a DIN 1.5 aperture (mid/late 90's Fiesta, Escort, Mondeo, Cougar etc.etc), basically if you have an RDS 5000/6000 this is an exact replacement. Here are the links: RDS 6000 with MP3 and RDS 6000 with MP3
