  1. Happy Birthday holdawayt!

  2. hi everyone. my car (1999 mk4 fiesta) was fitted with the digital clocks that appear on the mk5 fiestas. this unit did not have a rev counter therefore i purchased a set of white digital clocks that did. all went well whilst fitting them but when i gave it a test, the rev counter did not work. (this is the only reason i swapped the clocks in the first place!!) anyway i know there is power going to the unit because; 1) the clocks work perfectly except for the tachometer 2) when i initially fitted the clocks and powered them up they performed a self test. this showed that the rev counter was functioning as it rose to 8000 rpm then dropped back down. i can't understand why the rev counter isn't working in my car. any help would be greatly appreciated. the old clocks and some other (analogue) white clocks with rev counter are for sale. pm me if you're interested. thanks, Tom

  4. hello, i was busy lowering my fiesta today (only 40mm) when i came to the point where the anti roll bar has to be loosened. it came off fine but then when i put it back on it keeps slipping off. i think the nylon in the shoulder of the ball and socket joint might have worn to the point where it wont stay on. for future reference was i right to remove the anti roll bar? (not completely just the bottom bit) as this was the only way i would see of getting the suspension arm out. any ideas? and prices for repair would be great. dont fancy driving it with a loose roll bar. cheers, Tom
  5. hi guys, just bought myself some nice and comfy recaro bucket seats from an escort rs turbo for my fiesta mk4 purley because the fiesta seats are uncomfortable little things! just wondering whats the easiest way to go about fitting them? i believe that the subframes off a mk3 fiesta with a 3.5 fitting is the easiest? and i'm also aware that i cannot simply bolt the new seats onto the old subframes. any ideas would be great and i'll post some pics up when its done. cheers, tom.
  6. cheers 4 the advice, turns out the switch had a bit of corrosion on the contacts. just gave it a clean up and its all good again. door open indicator isnt working yet but thats no biggy. and ive just been to see a mk5 and it had the same dash as mine so thats still a mystery! i know it was one of the last mk4's to be made so that might be why. oh well cheers any way. tom.
  7. interesting that it has the mk5 dash! maybe someone swapped it before i had it. i'll check the sensors tommorow and the the fuses. shouldnt be a difficult fix regardless. and i think the light is on the correct setting because it comes on when the passenger door is opened.
  8. thanks buddy. makes the car look completely different!
  9. hello again, i picked up my alloys from a scrappy for £80 but ive never seen another ford with them. the dimensions are 185 60r 13" i'll include a pic too, only problem i have with them is that i cant find tyres for it! rare width for such small wheels. just wondering if anyone could help me identify what they came off?
  10. hi all, ive got a mk4 fiesta finesse (most basic model available) just wondering why i havent seen a fiesta with the same dash layout as me before? also i have a 'door open warning light cluster' that is completely redundant. if the drivers door is open, the interior light does not come on and there is no buzzer if my lights are left on. can anybody help with either of these problems? maybe a bulb or fuse has gone to make the dash stop working, and i'm guessing i need to clean up the contacts on the door sensor? i've included a pic of the dash with all of the warning lights lit up. these are the only working ones, should there be more? cheers, tom
  11. right, i've got exactly the same car and ive fitted ford alloys, re-sprayed it and have a rear spoiler (not fitted). the burgendy colour is called 'pepper red' and any body shop will be able to match it. the wheels came from a scrappy and they were £80 with brand new tyres and they are the zetec alloys. (no reason why you can't find the same deal) the spoiler came from the scrap yard too, luckily found one in the same colour so it didnt need spraying. i paid £20 for it but ive seen them for £100< in the past. tar, Tom
  12. i've just realised, when i crashed back in september my air bag didn't go off. (quite glad really as it would have cost a lot more to fix with a deployed airbag) but it was a 45mph impact so should it have gone off? i know that the previous owner replaced the bumpers from plastic to body coloured, is there a sensor or anything that may have been damaged or even forgotten? cheers, Tom
  13. just realised what it was... when the gearbox was dropped to get the clutch done one of the clips around the selector rod was loosened and not tightened!! so the whole thing is rotating where the clip should be. quick tighten of a bolt n everything's sweet!
  14. hi again, new problem with the festa, but hard to explain. if i go to put the car into 1st gear, the gearstick will go into gear, BUT if i push it over to the left a bit harder (when its in neutral), it will move the whole gearstick over to the left. i can still select all of the gears without crunching but it is over to the left. knock it back over to the right and it'll behave as normal. it's quite drivable but quite odd. any suggestions would be great. thanks, Tom.
  15. cheers guys. i'm slapping a new induction kit and tasteful exhaust system on next month so it should drown out that sound anyway! i'll check all the belts and pulleys for wear while i'm under the bonnet.
