Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. 1.6 Tdci Warm Up Times...?

As for the heat, this is exactly what mine does too! Is a lifesaver in the cold mornings! No funky smell though. I am on the original DPF though :) Temp gauge takes ages to get to 90. Getting hot air immediately regardless of gauge.
  2. 1.6 Tdci Warm Up Times...?

According to www.etis.ford.com for my car - With Supplemental Air HeaterNot entirely sure if this is it though. Perhaps there's a fuse you can check the absence/presence of? Warm air comes from my vents straight away, even from cold. If I don't take the motorway to work the coolant doesn't ever get to 90 before the end of my journey.
  3. Advice Please?

2008 1.6 TDCI with the dreaded DPF here. Does short runs most of the week, the odd long run at the weekends. No problems to report after 50 odd thousand miles. Dee is spot on above - this time of year, 450 miles out of a full tank on short trips, closer to 600 on mixed. Tax is £30 a year. Love this car. Other than glow plugs going, not a single problem. And yes, it is starting to develop the odd rattle, but it's a 6 year old car!
  4. 1.6 Tdci Warm Up Times...?

Mine (2008 1.6 TDCI Zebec) takes ages (15 mins at least) for the temp gauge to reach 90. Luckily I seem to have that pre-heater thing, and warm air comes from the vents straight away if I whack it unto full temp.
  5. Focus 1.6 Tdci Very Loud Engine

Mine's the same recently. Literally said the same thing this morning. Assuming it's just getting colder and perhaps we're not on "winter" diesel yet?
  6. Ford Focus Mk2 Engine Belt Noise

Still does it. Not got any worse. Mine does increase with revs though, and tends to stop about 10 mins into the journey.
  7. Ford Focus Mk2 Engine Belt Noise

Sound anything like this? My car has made this noise from when I got it at 17k. It's unto 50k now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YD1h3lerDg
  8. Focus Tdci Jumpstarted

Thanks for coming back to advise of the fix. Always helpful!
  9. Mine said 11 miles remaining the other day and I filled it with 51.5 litres! Given it's a 53 litre tank I'd say this is pretty accurate, if not a little conservative. Was quite concerned about running out of fuel tbh, especially being a diesel.
  10. Limp Mode Before Turning Engine On

Get a code reader on it, but mine did something similar, at least on startup. If you gave the glow plugs chance to think, it went into limp mode immediately. Just turning it over quickly and it didn't seem to notice. As the 1.6 TDI (mine) uses the plugs for DPF regeneration however, mine had a habit of coming back on after a few miles driving. New glow plugs in the end sorted it. Code reader will tell you for certain though. I used a bluetooth one and an android phone.
  11. Glow Plugs Replaced.

I'd look at giving it a nice long blast on the motorway in 4th tbh, now that it can regenerate properly. Agreed, mine is staying legal also.
  12. Engine Systems Fault On Dashboard

Sounds like a right pain. I remember when mine went into limp mode once, going up a hill on Woodhead Pass. Quite scary. Keep us updated!
  13. Question - is it even possible for these things to smoke, what with the DPF? Or will the DPF just clog?
  14. Smelly Aircon

Changing the pollen filter is an absolute nightmare. Took me ages, and ached for days afterwards. Never again.
  15. Obc Question

Change it to miles and Fahrenheit, then when it's on the temp display, hold the set button. It will change to the combination you want. At least this is how you got my Mk 2.5 to do it!
  16. Foot Well Lights Help!!

Mine was the same as hyrule - just needed to pop the bulbs in. Very cheap mod! Mine's a 2008 Zetec.
  17. How much extra was your insurance with the remap?
  18. Strange Clunk Sound

If it only happens once when first pulling away after starting (or even restarting), at around 10mph, then it's normal. If it happens more than this then it's not.
  19. Strange Clunk Sound

As focus-jinny says, mine does this too. If turning it sounds really bad!
  20. Fitting Cruise Control To My Focus

    Ooh. Now that is interesting!
  21. Fitting Cruise Control To My Focus

My 2008 Zetec has all the sensors etc. Just not gotten around to buying a new steering wheel yet. Done a couple of long trips the last few weekends and wished I had it!
  22. Mk1.5 Focus Tdci 115Bhp 1.8 Remap

A few things on this forum have made me laugh out loud tonight and this is one of them! Excellent way to describe it hehe!
  23. Fuel Addative

Yeah, 2009 onwards as far as I know. Mine just missed it - Dec 2008 with Eolys. No probs so far though, don't ask me once I'm approaching 100K though... haha!
  24. Focus 1.6 Tdci Mpg

Don't know about anyone else but I'd rather just avoid the situation of having to prove/disprove anything if I can. As such I'll be leaving mine on! Regarding legality, even before the specific DPF MOT check, hasn't it always been illegal to significantly modify the emissions system?
  25. Focus 1.6 Tdci Mpg

I agree with everything Captain Haddock wrote. I have the 1.6TDCI, and get around 52 MPG with a mixture of town and motorway driving (motorway not being too sensible). Can get it unto 58MPG if I chill it out a bit. Regarding the 37,500 Eolys interval, you can get away with longer. Presumably it's to allow for people to put a tenner in at a time. I know someone who always fills their tank with diesel, and the first they knew they had a DPF was when the fluid ran out at 70,000 miles isn! Not that I'm recommending this, but it looks as though you can get away with refilling less often if you always run it down then brim it. Just missed out on the coated DPF on mine (Dec 2008!). Had my Eolys dome at 37,500 just to be sure; I like a trouble free life!
