  1. Thanks. If I got the VSS done that should fix the speedo but may still dash. I could live with that. Does the dashes generally lead to further issues if not sorted? Their the codes that appeared when I tapped through the test mode on the dash.
  2. Yeah, aha. I only found out earlier. Hold down the trip button on your dashboard for 10 seconds, turn to position 2, keep holding down then fire the car up. Keep pressing the mile reset button until 0000.0 (turns out that is a digital speedo!)
  3. Hi, Recently my MK1 Focus' speedo has started to die and return to life during a drive, I did post before about this but the entire dash used to die (fixed with WD40 2 years ago - good as new since). All other dials etc work, it's just the speedo going in and out. I've just drove home in test mode and the digital speedo dies when the needle does. I've read this helps confirm it's a VVS issue. The two DTC codes I have are 123 and 041. Finally, the ABS light sometimes comes on (if the needle doesn't return after a few minutes and the milage lines out ---- ---). Does this all look like a VVS as cluster works? Thanks!
  4. UPDATE: Got the alternator changed and we're all good! Since being changed the revs have gone back to idling normally and not sticking.
  5. Just had it checked. The battery was slightly low and the alternator is also slightly low on the power it's giving. So going to swap the alternator. From memory it's a Platinum silver battery. Not sure if this linked to the higher revs in neutral but the Battery light is the main concern at the moment. Thanks
  6. Yup, the dials all sweep and run without any issues. I'll take it to the garage tomorrow - I got the battery Jan 2014. Thanks.
  7. Hi all, Today the battery light started appearing on the dashboard when I was in natural sat at traffic lights. The light would then go out once I got into first and pulled away. There's been no loss of power etc when the light is on and off. windows, radio, wipers etc all the same speed etc. Plus, the last couple of days the revs have got stuck at the 1,200 mark before making its way down to 8/900 (normal) when I drop into neutral. (Again, no issues on power or gear changes). Would these be linked or well timed separate issues? Any ideas on what could be causing it/them? Thanks!
  8. Thanks for your help people. I'll have a look into this. Would a lambda also affect the RPM dropping quite a bit when going into neutral and sometimes causing the car to cut out?
  9. Sent my Dads Mk1 in for an MOT last Friday and this is the exhaust results. Is there any fixes you can think of that won't have a sky high garage bill that we can do ourselves being retesting? Will a tank of Cat cleaner and Premium unleaded make much or any difference? Thanks
  10. It only did it twice and then hasn't happened again since. Did the tracking yesterday and now the wheel is well of out line for being level. (rather than a little before being tracked).
  11. Sure. 1.6 Zetec Petrol. 51 plate. It depends - can use none for 2-3 weeks and then one week it'll use anything up to 1/5 of a litre over the next week.
  12. The wheel has been slightly left for a little while and have been meaning to get tracking done. I'll get this done and see how things go. Thanks people!
  13. I've had the same problem but a MK1 Focus. Doesn't take as much oil as stated in the OP. Varies each time I check (weekly). Been doing it for a good couple of years, no leak and no smoke.
  14. Hi, The last couple of days I've had a slight wobble from the steering wheel and wondering if anyone has any ideas. It only happens when I'm doing 70 (doesn't happen straight away - only after a few miles of doing 70). So I've come off the carriageway, slowed down and re-joined on the slip road, got back up to 70 and it doesn't happen again for the rest of my drive. (power, braking and steering all responsive and no obvious issues). So it seems to be a bit random. Thanks in advance!
  15. Gave it a go. Also used a pump where the water goes to see if that'll push it at all. The back wiper worked a bit better but not at a decent standard and the front kicked in shortly. Without having to jack the car is there anything we can put in their to clear a possible block?
