  2. Under Pressure

Hi all, The ownres manual fo my 1.3 fiesta says with the tyres i have, 155/70 r 13 , that the pressure i should have them at is: Tyre pressure 2.4(35) front 1.8(26) rear, Does this sound a right to anyone?, it is what i have them at, but any other car i ever had never had nearly as big a difference between the front and back, and in the owners manual, that specififc tyre is the only one which has to have this pressure. i find this makes me very prone to roll back, i have to be wuite wuick with the handbrake in hilly areas. any advice greatly appreciated. ta a mill, John
  3. Hi all, i new enough to driving, but hav had a couple of cars(that sounds worse than it is, i swear), i got my 1st ford bout month ago, 2 weeks ago i got it serviced and ended up getting new brakes(pads and disks) a new C.V Joint, wheel bearings, as well as the usual service stuff, Now the thing is, i was just getting it serviced to be precautious, I got it cheap and i have my kids in it at weekends, so i done it for peace of mind mainly. but the thing is , ever since i got it serviced, it is hard work driving it, the gear changes are not as smooth as they were, it sounds like its revving up a lot when taking off, and from first to second i really have to hover around the clutch, it aint cut out, but feels like it might. anybody have any experiene of this type of hing? basically, it feels like i am driving different car since i got what i thought was a nice tune up. and another major question i have which has me baffled, and "might" have something to do with the above when putting air in the tyres, i am going by the manual and putting 35 p.s.i in the front and 26 p.s.i in the back, now from my ezperiene with other cars thias sounds off, but who am i to disagree with the owners manual. Oh and a "probably"(hopefully) un-related thing ,about a week ago i was driving home from work, doing about 80kmph(the limit i may add) and luckily it was a quiet time, because there ws no-one around me and all i hear is BANG, my back windscreen is all shattered and has a hole in it about half the size of a football, same shape too, now i had got the heater on a bit high, may have been my fault, but an expensive lesson, cost 180euro to get a fella to come out to work next day to replace it. anyway, sorry for the long post, its just a run of luck i having:( any help greatly appreciated lads and ladies.
  4. Hi all, I am new enough to thsi site, but i do find it very helpful, to cut a long story short, i got a ford fiesta 1997, 67,000 miles 1.3 endura, for 900Euro a few weeks ago(three weeks to be precise) now the owners manual had no service history(wha ya want for that money i hear you ask) but the market is flooded with cheap cars at the minute, anyway, the car was going well enough, but i just new it needed a service, the oil looked very manky and coming into the winter(i take my kids in it so like to have the peace of mind)and the brakes were a bit shoddy too. anyway, i went to a reputable service place, a nig place, dunno if i meant to name it, but i not complaining about them, just querying, its calle discount tyres in dublin. anyway, the srevice was posted at 170, he took it in there and then, i drove around the corner to work with one of their guys on board and gave him the keys and he drove back(legal?who knows, nothing happened so who cares) So i get a phon call about an hour and half later saying i needed new cv joint(never heard of one)and newbake pads and disca, and another few bits and bobs, it came to 630 after a bit of haggling and a ??discount?? the sheet he gave me at the end has, as follows on it, Oil castrol 24.50(including disposal) oil filter, ford 14.00 air filter 12.00 bosch spark plug 20.00 pads, ford 80.00 discs ford 180.00 fl cv joint fiesta 160.00 fan belt fiesta 60.00 rear wheel bearing fiesta 90.00 E-BOTP fiesta 85.00 there was a supposed discount taken off that bringing it to a majik 630(: now the guy said that the full srvice was done on ti too, with a few bulbs replacing) although the courtesy bulb when i open that car door or the boot still don't work, i am going back about that, sorry for such a long messagee, but i dont know what hafl the stuff i paid for is? now i must say the car drives like a gem, but it was pretty alright before(so i thought)the guy said i saved major expense catching these things on time.of course he would. I would be very very grateful f anyone can fill me in on what was done to my car, was it worth it, was i ripped. on one way of looking at it is the car has nw cost a total of 1500euro and has less that 70,000 mls on it it is NCT'd for two years and the guy said i have pretty much a "new car" now after getting that work done. look i wont ramble on any more, just would apprecite any advice, remarks?? thanks lads and ladies John

  7. Side mirrors(Fixable)

Hiello 2 1+all, Well,i just registered 5 minutes ago and i already asking for help, ,anyhow, my new(new to me anyway) fiesta, the wing mirrows on both sides dont move when i toggle the little joystick thing inside, i have tried gently to push it, pull it twist and all that, I have the mirrors in place now, but would prefer to be able to fix them, i chekced out prices for new ones and would prefer not to spend that at this side of xmas thanks very much, or anytime at that matter, from the outside they look fine, the mirror glass itself ain't loose at all, i have found nothing on the net about this exact subject, its mainly about replacing the whole thing or replacing hte glass, which i dont need, I was hoping to find the time today to take on out and see if i can see the problem but a got caight up bringing my ma shopping and then daylight was gone. basically, if anyone has ever had the same type of problem, or any ideas, or can even point me in the direction of a website that covers this sorta thing i would be greatly appreciative, thanks fo taking the time to read this(thats if you didn't get bored and give up halfway

Hello 1+ALL, I am John, 30 from Dublin in Ireland, Just bought a my first Ford the other day, Fiesta 1997 Endura/encore 1.3 in red, 3 door, and i have to say, its' my fourth car i previously had a renault clio(semi-auto) what a joke, then an almera, loved it but was wrote off by some !Removed!, then about a month ago i bought a mazda 323 off this guy, dunno how it didn't explode, it was steaming hot other day and i pulled into a garage, (the temp gauge was as high as possible) and opened the hood to all sorts of hissing and smoke, i was told to top up the rad wit water and try get it home(back to were i bought it is were i went, when the guy said top it up with water, he and i were under the impression there was already water in there, it was empty, must have been surviving on the cooland bought the day i got it, anyway, they knew they sold me a lemon s(it ws only 700, but you get surprisingly decent cars in dublin for around the grand mark at the minute,) anyway, he had the fiesta for 995, and i gave hime back his crappy mazda and 200 euro and he gave me the Ford, which was five years younger than the mazda, with only 67,000 miles on it, nct'd till jan 2010,anyway i think i am very happy with my purchase so far, spent today cleaning it and ckecking oil coolant bat brake fluid power steer fluid levels etc, all looks good touch wood. So thats me, and my very long and rambling introduction, (i do tend to let my fingers run away with themselves, sorry about that) looking forward to getting to know ya all, thanks for haveing me, John :)
