  1. hi all, more problems with my focus, central locking this time. im using the key to unlock and lock the car until i get remote fixed. first the driver side rear door stopped working with the central locking but locked & unlocked manualy, now it is locked and wont unlock atall. i cant get to the lock as i cant get to the screws to take the panel off because the door wont open.???? now happening also is that when unlock drivers door doesnt always work the central locking, i have to go round to the passengers door and do it that way. please help, central locking nightmare!
  2. Idle Control Valve

    changing the icv on a 2.0 sounds like hard work as i think its inside the throttle body?? may get one from scrappy to see if it sorts out idle prob, that way i'll have an idea how it comes apart lol.

    gonna take the fob to a dealer the weekend see what they say...is there a fuse that controls anything that may need looking at?? just a thought

    changed leads so far still the same........maybe a stupid question but if a car is missing would you hear it as the sensation im getting is loss of power briefly like someone has touched the brakes??

    HI GUYS. LOOKING FOR A 'HOW TO' TO CLEAN THE IDLE CONTROL VALVE. TO BE HONEST NOT EVEN SURE WHERE IT IS ON A 2.0L FOCUS? IS IT IN THE THROTTLE BODY ON THE SIDE OF IT?? I AM ASSUMING THEY CAN JUST BE CLEANED WITH CARB CLEANER AND PUT BACK ON???

    yeah thanks artscot79 may just get that coil pack from ebay, £30 against ford's £106 not bad. just got a quote from ford parts online £160 for leads and coil :-/

    when you say chip do you mean the immobiliser chip? if so unlike other cars ive had there is no chip in the key half. either it has been lost or there isnt one,the key will start the car just the fob bit doesnt work?! can i use another chip then?

    hi stef123, thanks for your reply. coil pack would be alot cheaper if so...just got a quote from ford for a fuel tank sender and they say it only comes with the pump - £290? :-/ it never hesitates with open throttle-pulling away ect, (yet anyway) but more when holding a steddy speed. sometimes if release throttle and re-apply gently whilst cruising also does the same. i would say it feels more like someone has touched the brakes/loss of power, anything from a split second to about 3secs then picks up again. i have changed the plugs (genuine) but still the same. i have used all genuine parts up to now but got a feeling genuine coil pack and plugs may cost lol, waiting on a quote from dealer. i did get a quote from local motor factors and was only £50 for leads&coil pack. seems a cheap (poss) fix compared to what i think ford may come back with? one thing that was mentioned is a plate that the coil mounts to. apparently sometimes it needs replacing??? coil jumps from £30 to £85 if so?? with regards to revs and cutting out starting to think that could be completley seperate like icv? i dont know if the focus suffers from this prob?

    IT'S THE 3 BUTTON REMOTE WITH KEY IN QUESTION. SENT THE REMOTE PART OFF FOR REPAIR AS IT DIDNT WORK OR SO I THOUGHT. RECIEVED IT BACK WITH NEW SWITCHES BUT IT STILL DOESNT WORK. HAVE TRYED THE RE-SYNC - 0N OFF 4TIMES, CAR SOUNDS TO INDICATE READY. BUT WHEN I PRESS ONE OR ALL OF THE BUTTONS NOTHING WORKS,SUGGESTING IT DOESNT RECOGNIZE THE REMOTE. ANY SUGGESTIONS GUYS?? THANKS!

  13. HI ALL! OK SO FILLED THE CAR TO A FULL TANK THE OTHER DAY-NO PROBLEMS TODAY (35MILES LATER) THE FUEL GAUGE STAYS ON EMPTY. I HAVE DONE THE DASH TEST AND GOT DTC CODE 9202 = FUEL SENDER OPEN CIRCUIT. MY QUESTIONS ARE... IS THIS SERIOUS? WHAT HARM WILL IT DO? DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT IS NEEDED TO GET THIS FIXED-PART NUMBER ECT? IS IT AN EXPENSIVE JOB TO GET DONE? ON THE DASH TEST... FUEL READING WAS - F255 OIL READING WAS - O 155 BATTERY VOLTAGE WAS - B155 OTHER SYMPTONS LEADING UP TO THIS.... CAR HESITATION CUTTING OUT (REVS DROP TOO LOW WHEN STOP/DIP CLUTCH) SOMETIMES REVS INCREASE WHEN CHANGING GEAR/DIP CLUTCH WOULD THESE SYMPTONS BE RELATED?? PLEASE HELP! ANY ADVICE WELCOME!     I HAVE A MK1 FOCUS, USING THE KEY - TURN TO THE RIGHT FIRST THEN LEFT, INDICATORS WILL FLASH TO CONFIRM!
  15. hi all new to the site and a new owner of a ford focus 2.0 petrol hatch. problems....started off with rough idle down to a broken vacuum pipe (assume it's a vacuum pipe as it sucks where the brake in the small pipe was) now fixed the rough idle is gone (maybe still a slight bit but might just be me). now i've noticed that when cruising at any speed but mainly on a motorway at 70mph, the car will miss a beat/hessitate. it fells like someone has touched the brakes and then it picks up again, sometimes for a split second and sometimes for 1-2secs. have noticed that at this time the revs seem to stay about the same but speed drops???? any ideas??? thanks!!
