Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Is my fiesta MPG Good? Please Respond!

My wife had one of these for 3 years and our overall average mpg with mixed use was 43.58. Two of our friends had the same car and achieved similar mpg so yours looks about right.
  2. Mk8 Delivery Delays?

Just been looking on Car Wow website - they're suggesting an on sale date of October 2018 for the new ST!
  3. Mk8 Delivery Delays?

Thanks for posting this update, Keith - very interesting!
  4. Mk8 Delivery Delays?

This is getting rather silly! I'm puzzled that I've not seen these delays reported elsewhere such as the wider motoring press - anyone have a contact at Autocar or Auto Express?! Also, if the issue really is just a minor thing like part leather, amazed that Ford seem to accept orders stacking up rather than do something to get things moving, such as offer a reduction to accept fabric seats for example. Back when I was involved in fleet vehicles, it was not unusual for manufacturers to offer to up-spec or down-spec delayed vehicles, with a suitable price incentive.
  5. Mk8 Delivery Delays?

That's great! Wish I could have done it on the ST Line as I'm not fussed about the part leather either, but did particularly want climate.
  6. Petrol, Premium or Regular for Fiesta 1.0L ecoboost ?

The only car on which I ever noticed a difference fuel wise was an Astra SRi which I had for 7 years back in the 80s/90s at the time of the leaded/unleaded switchover - it hated unleaded but loved a good dose of 4 star! Anyway, enough of the history. I have more recently carried out tests on 2 cars - a 182ps Ecoboost C Max and a 180ps Leon Mk 3 - both over about 6 months/6,000 miles and noted absolutely no difference in performance, economy or "feel" between normal 95 and 97/98. What I can't say is whether or not the various "super" fuels will keep your engine cleaner and running better over the longer term - I no longer do enough annual mileage to find out.
  7. Mk8 Delivery Delays?

A cunning plan! Unfortunately it won't work on the ST Line as not all of the X extras are available on the base car (eg climate control which is standard on Titanium and X). Did this work out ok money wise? I know the difference is about £1500 from Titanium to Titanium X but haven't tried totting up all the bits!
  8. Fiesta Price Hike

Very true - for about 10 years I was involved in acquiring vehicles for a large fleet and even the Ford guys used to refer to certain models as "price list cars" ie that was the only place you ever saw one! Don't think I've ever come across an ST 1 in the flesh as it were, and recall that when it did come out not only was it low basic spec but the available options were very limited also. I think to get climate control for example, you had to move up to ST 2 just to be able to order it as an option, then they finally brought out the ST 3 which had it as standard.
  9. Fiesta Price Hike

Looking at the new price list wef 1November I see the list price of the ST Line X which I have on order is up £450 to £19395 so I guess we could be looking at the new ST starting at £20k plus when it comes?
  10. 2013 1.0l Ecoboost engine rust. Problem?

Just had an update on this after my friend had the Fiesta in the dealership. When he collected it the service advisor said there was no rust and the technician had taken a photo for their records to prove it. On asking to see the photo, my mate pointed out that the rust was clearly visible with which the advisor concurred. So they asked him to keep an eye on it and bring it back if it gets any worse. Not that satisfactory but it's still got 12 months warranty so he should be covered.
  11. 2013 1.0l Ecoboost engine rust. Problem?

Ironically this thread started the day I came back from ordering a 1.0 Ecoboost* - I wonder if I'd have gone ahead if I'd seen the thread first? The optimist in me says it's only a small sample among many thousands sold, and as iantt has often said, and most of us know from experience, other makes have problems too. Then the pessimist kicks in - I doubt if most drivers check under the bonnet as often as members of this forum, let alone examine their turbo cooling pipes and what if this just the tip of an enormous iceberg?? (*I console myself that I have ordered an ST Line X so it will probably never come anyway!)
  12. Mk8 Fiesta fiasco - a silly story

It could have been worse. When I read the bit about reversing I was expecting you to continue with "into...."! Although I've had a couple of 6 speed Fords with reverse collar I also got caught out when test driving the Mk 8 as my previous cars have had reverse in the opposite position i.e. to the left of first.
  13. Mk8 Delivery Delays?

Just removes one excuse for them to knock the price down come trade-in time, but it's not a big deal, especially now with 3 different plates in a given year which seems to confuse everybody anyway! The way things seem to be going, it looks as if I may be looking at an 18 plate anyway!
  14. Mk8 Delivery Delays?

Glad to hear you've had some good(ish) news! I don't really need my car (ordered Sept) until January so haven't been chasing so far and certainly didn't want it being registered late in December rather than 2018 (unless there was something in it for me of course!) but it looks like I won't need to worry!!
  15. Mk8 Delivery Delays?

Only had the thought as the OP mentioned being told about delays on the 140. Out of interest has anyone ordered a 140 (non X) ST Line and got a delivery date?
