  1. In case anyone is interested. Railings are not straight swap. Mk 2,5 railings have 2 bolts on both ends to mount them to the roof. MK2 roof has 2 pre drilled holes of which only one hole is usable (rear one). So I had to drill 3 holes to each side to mount the railings. However, when you do that they will fit pretty nicely. The rear most nut for the railing is pita to install and tighten. All other bolts have hole underneath so you can use socket but for the rear most one is only doable with key spanner and very little room to turn the spanner. You also have to shorten the said bolt or it will contact the body. However as with everything, it is doable and result is ok.
  2. My Focus today :) Like: heated front window, heated rear window and mirrors, heated seats, ESP is quite handy. Rear drive car would be much more fun in winter but focus is surprisingly fun to drive (thanks to mechanical rear handbrake, not that stupid electronical stuff that more modern cars have). Do not like: gets warm quite slowly (i do have quite short commute about 6 km). However I think it is the same for all cars. If it is -25C outside all cars will warm up slowly. I am considering accessory electrical motor block heater and battery charger. Something by defa for example Of course if it is warm outside -5...0, then it heats up pretty fast. However we are talking about winter here so I'd like much faster heating. However when doing longer trips, then the amount of heat it produces is very good even when it's cold! I like this car a lot... there are few thing i do not understand... like why would you put electrical windows in front and not in the back. When driving in summer and you want to open a window to vent a little bit, then opening the rear window is much quieter than the front one. I can reach front window easily to us the manual crank. However this is all minor stuff. Overall I like my focus and it is pretty OK winter car
  3. Hello, I own 2006 1,6VTI 85KW Focus estate. I want to install roof railings (the ones that go along the roof not across) I have sourced a pair of railings from scrap yard that belong to MK2.5 Focus. Do any of you know if they are straight fit to pre face lift model? The reason I ask is that Ford dealer said that pre facelift and face lift models have different part numbers for railings. However the body of the car is practically the same. I will probably go ahead anyhow and get them and do the test fitting. But I would appreciate any information before I pull the trigger.
  4. Hello, Since gasoline is getting more and more expensive I'm thinking of LPG conversion. However I have heard that there might be some problems with valve seats after some time of use. I have also heard that this problem is non existant if you will install some kind of flashlube and use it rght from the beginning. I'm talking about IV generation device. Car I'm thinkig of converting is mk2 Ford Focus 1.6L Duratec-16V Ti-VCT (115/120PS) estate. Do any of you guys have any experience about this?
  5. Thank you.
  6. Anyone? I have the same problem with my 2006 wagon. Also would like to know how if A-pillar covers will just come off with pulling (fully and not just hanging them there dashboard side still attached).
  7. Don't mess with your brakes unless you know what you are doing. http://www.stoptech.com/technical-support/technical-white-papers http://www.stoptech....-brake-upgrades
  8. I live in Estonia and for some reason most of focuses that we have here don't have cc so I didn't get it from here. Hovewer in finland they have website where you can check out junkyeards all over the country. So I just kept my eyes open for low mileage wheel with cc buttons and booked it. I have meny coworkers in finland, they went purchaced it and when they had some things to do in Estonia they brought it over to me (guys from the company were willing to post it to Estonia but since it was more convinient for them to use someone local who would act as middle we went that way. They did hovewer booked it under my name). So not as easy process as I would have hoped for but it got the things done. You might want to check out few websites and talk to junkyard owners it they are willing to send items abroad. There are 2 major sites I kept checking out: the finnish one: http://www.autopurkaamot.com/ and swedish one (much more stuff): http://en.bildelsbasen.se/ go and check them out. Maybe you will get lucky and they are willing to send stuff in your way. P.S. I forgot to say that the Swedish mileage is then number that is on the site x10 and it is in km (some kind of wierd swedish habbit). So for example this wheel: http://en.bildelsbas...ost_id=21588833 mileage is 5285 miles on the web page. This actually means that the odometer is showing 52850 kilometers. The great thing in scandinavia is that if insurance says that car is to damaged after accident then you have to dismantle it. This means pretty nice supply of used parts. P.P.S They use google translator to translate the pages in http://www.autopurkaamot.com/ and it wont translate correctly. Anyhow after selecting your ford model then on partlist "ohjauspyörä" means steeringwheel.
  9. Just an update: I went to Ford dealrship and they activated cruise control. Everything works except dashboard cc symbol wont lit up when cc is activated. I know that the symbol is there and it will lit up when I dio the all leds working test with computer reset button. It's an minor thing and otherwise cc works like it's ment to work. Considering that aftermarket cc would have been about 400-500€, new wheel from dealerhip was quoted for 700€ and now i got used wheel for 85€ (I had 4 spoke wheel so didn't need new airbag) and activation for 23€ I have no complaints.
  10. I have a focus but I think the idea should be the same. You have to have the lights switched on to enable headlight washers. If the switch is on "off" position washers won't work.
  11. If any of you guys are wondering: I got mk 2,5 steering wheel and fitted it to mk2 car. It is direct swap (Just like Lenny suspected even tho part numbers are different). Back window heater button trick confirmed that cruise buttons are working fine. Now I have to enable cruise in Ford dealership. Do you know if steering wheel cruise buttons are lit or not?
  12. Hi. Do you have any idea if mk2 and mk2,5 steering wheels are interchangeable? I asked my ford dealership. They agree to reprogram the car but say that according to their info mk2 and mk2,5 have different steering wheel part number. As far as I can see there is no difference. Do you guys have any clue?
