  1. I have a 2003 Fiesta Finesse with the 1.3 duratec engine that has a couple of problems I hope you can help me with. It was my mother’s car and has only done 8000 miles from new and serviced regularly, but it seems to die when I hit a hill and is generally lethargic – fuel consumption is not that great either. It also has a slight miss when the engine comes back to idle when the engine’s warm, and sometimes misses when changing gear over 40mph. The car takes off from stop ok and starts no problem, so I’m a bit stumped. I borrowed a computer from a neighbour and there were no fault codes. Could it be the lambda sensor?
  2. I have a 2001 1.6 Focus Zetec with a couple of problems that I think may be related. When it's cold or damp I can hear the doors clicking trying to lock themselves. I have read before to try putting dielectric grease on the terminals of the terminal multiblocks inside the doors, which I tried but didn't work. The second and more important is sometimes the car won't start. When turning the key the dash lights come on and I can hear a click but no turn over. By repeatedly trying the key in the ignition the car will eventually start as if nothing was wrong, ie no slow turn over like the battery was dead (which I have checked with a multimeter and it is fine). Sometimes it will only take a couple of tries and the next time it could take up to 15 minutes of trying. Can anyone offer any answers or suggestions please?
  3. My 1.6 Zetec 2001 Focus has lost some power especially when under load, and it has started to ‘pink’ or rattle for a second or so when accelerating, particularly around 40-60mph. It has been serviced and has had new Ford spark plugs fitted which hasn’t helped. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  4. Thanks for the reply. I had checked the HT leads and they were fine, and when I replaced the new plugs with the old ones it ran ok again. It turned out the local Ford Dealer (Arnold Clarke) had sold me the wrong plugs to start with. After about 10 days the light went out and has been fine ever since!!
  5. Hi, I replaced the spark plugs in my mothers 2003 Fiesta 1.3 today with genuine Motorcraft plugs from the local agent. The car ran like a bag of spanners missing on at least 1 cylinder. I replaced them with the old plugs and it ran fine, but now the engine management light is on and staying on. Can anyone tell me how to get it to go off please? Cheers Sye
