    No, a module with part number 7S7T-19G488-AE will not work correctly in a Focus MK2.

    A 2007 Focus MK2 has the old 1st generation Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system. This system has modules with the following part numbers: 3M5T-19G488-Ax 4M5T-19G499-Ax 7M5T-19G488-Ax The A in the part number suffix stands for the language (A = English). The x in the part number suffix stands for the revision of the module. This can basically be any letter. Next to the module itself you also need the radio stalk with VOICE button, the microphone, the wiring for the system and some other parts.

    All of the Travelpilot FX units are very sensitive and suffer from such problems. Not only the ones produced between 2008 and 2009. These units are very sensitive about low battery voltage. A flat batterry often damages the radio. Bosch/Blaupunkt offered an extended warranty period for units produced during a certain production period (between 2008 and 2009). These units suffered from a number of known problems This extended warranty period ended on January 2016. This does not mean that later Travelpilot FX units do not suffer from these problems.

    The travelpilot FX is a pretty delicate piece of electronics which is known for its problems. Cutting out is one of the first symptoms. Generally this problem will occur more often after it happened the first time. After the first symptoms the radio can also remain completely dead after the car has been started. In some cases the radio suddenly starts working again but this is often only for a short time. Most of the problems are caused by a defective RAM memory and next to this the Travelpilot FX has also some other weak components which can cause problems . Replacing the affected parts is usually pretty expensive.

  6. AC is noisy ???

    Noises are a known problem of the Focus MK2/MK2.5 airconditioning system. There are basically 2 known causes that cause the airconditioning system to make noise. 1. Not enough refrigerant inside the airconditioning system. This causes the refrigerant to evaporate prematurely inside the airconditioning lines instead of the evaporator. the Focus MK2/MK2.5 has a relative small amount of refrigerant inside the system (for environmental reasons). Even a small loss of refrigerant (which is quite normal) can make the airconditioning system make noisy. 2. Early Focus MK2 versions did have the filter/dryer of the airconditioning system mounted directly onto the chassis. Vibrations inside the filter/dryer are passed through to the chassis and the bodywork. On later Focus MK2 versions and MK2.5 versions this has been modified by using rubber bushes to mount the filter/dryer onto the chassis.
  7. I used the 25 mm thick sound insulation material for a 2-Year project at work. I was able to take all leftovers (50 cm x 50 cm pieces) home so I used this material for both my previous MK2 and My current MK3. On my MK2 I was even able to install 50 mm of insulation material on some locations inside the door cards. I still have a lot of this material left so i am also planning to install it inside the tailgate.
  8. Yes, I used 25 mm thick sound insulation material. I used sound absorbing foam plates with an oil and water resistant finish. I installed this material inside the door panels. The materials is self adhesive and very easy to install. My experience is that installing this type of material arround the speaker location is sufficient to stop the door panels from resonating. Unfortunately the Focus MK3 door panels do not have much space left over inside so it is not possible to install this type of sound insulation inside the complete door panel.
  9. The rear door panels of the Focus MK3 have a curved surface. Only the original tweeters are a nice fit to the curved surface of the door panel. Aftermarket tweeters do not have this curved shape and will not fit nice.The original tweeters only cost about €12,50 a piece from Ford and improve the sound quality quite a bit.
  10. Focus Ecu 1.8 Petrol Flexifuel

    The new PCM needs to be compatible with the car. It needs to be the same PCM type. Depending on the production date the 1.8/2.0 Duratec HE engine can have 3 different types of PCM. The correct type of PCM can only be determined correctly by the part number of the PCM (not by the engine code). If you install a new or used compatible PCM it needs to be reprogrammed completely. Not only the PATS system needs to be reprogrammed but also the software. Incorrect software can result in engine damage.
  11. Aftermarket alloy wheel fitting

    There are adapters to convert a PCD of 5x108 to 5x114.3 but this is only possible if the offset of the wheels is correct. Most adapters are at least 25 mm thick which means that the offset of the wheels must be about 70 mm to make them fit.
  12. Brakes difference between Zetec S and Tit X

    Whether the car has rear drum brakes or disc brakes does not depend on the trim level. It depends on the market (country) the car is built for and the body type. Some countries do still have rear drum brakes on the Hatchback body type of the 1.0 ECOboost, 1.6 TI-VCT and (some versions of) the 1.6 TDCI.while the Wagon body type does always have rear disc brakes. Other countries (for example Germany) have rear dis brakes as standard on all body types. It is basically a decision of the importer/distributor of the particular country which is probably based on money and requirements/regulations of the particular country.. Across Europe the trim levels and technical specifications of the Focus MK3/MK3.5 are often very different. In some countries the Focus MK3/MK3.5 was/is available without ABS while vehicles in other countries have the IVD system (ABS, ESP and TCS) as standard.

    I searched my old Focus MK2 files and documents and found the schematics for the additional circuitry. I made this circuitry myself in the past and it worked perfectly.
  14. The 1.6 TDCI of the Focus MK3 and also the 1.5 TDCI of the Focus MK3.5 are designed and produced as a joint venture of Ford and PSA. The 1.6 TDCI of the Focus MK3 is basically a further developed and improved version of the old 1.6 TDCI that was available on the focus MK2/MK2.5. The old 16-valve version of the 1.6 TDCI has a number of design faults which causes a number of known problems. However applying a reduced service interval and proper servicing prevents most of this problems. If well taken care for and used correctly this is actually a nice, reliable and fuel economic engine. On the later 8-valve version of the 1.6 TDCI most of the design faults are solved. in my opinion the 115 HP version of this engine is the most reliable. The 95 and 105 HP version have some additional parts/systems to reduce emissions. For example an additional fuel injector inside the exhaust to inject fuel which is needed during regeneration. This fuel injector can become clogged which prevents the car from regenerating correctly which can result in a defective DPF.
  15. The Focus MK3 has the newer 8-valve version of the 1.6 TDCI. Compared to the old (problematic) 16-valve version of the 1.6 TDCI the new 8-valve version is almost completely re-designed which basically makes it a completely different engine. Very few parts remained the same.
