  1. Just to update, The email I received from Valeo confirming the clutch kit supplied by the Motor Factors was incorrect, as my car had already been converted to single mass flywheel, the flywheel would had to have been made by Valeo (but it wasn't) The Motor Factors have agreed to supply a full 4 piece Valeo conversion kit at no extra cost to the mechanic at no extra cost to me, however I have to pay the labour cost (which the mecanic has agreed to half £80) So all in all, a good resolution. The actual problem was the clearance from the SMF and clutch plate. Wow, what a caffuffle!!!!
  2. Hi, yes all gears work whilst engine off, He took me for a spin to show me the car runs in every gear, at first we had to stop the engine in order to engage first gear, obviously im not happy with that, I have just had email conformation from Valio to confirm that LUK CSC is not compatable with Valio clutch, and that the Valio clutch is not compatable with any other Flywheel but theirs. I've asked the mechanic to bleed it again, and to test the master cylinder, but he says its OK. Im stressed to death at the moment because of the spiralling costs. Thanks for the swift reply ANSKA,
  3. Hi all, Im in a bit of a jam, I have a 2008 Mondy Edge 1.8 tdci 6speed, I have just had a clutch change, the mechanic opened up the tranny and found it had been converted to SMF (I didnt know this, Only had 2 month). Anyway, He fitted it with a LUK concentric slave cylinder and a Valio clutch (2 piece). Now, When I start the car and depress the clutch and try to select 1st gear, it will not go in, when i release the clutch by half it will go in gear and drive as normal, the same for reverse. I am refusing to pay the mechanic at the moment, he is blaming the SMF, the company who supplied the parts are blaming the mechanic, and i am being told to expect a big labour bill. Can anybody shed some light please, im desperate. PS Valio say the cluch will only fit the Valio SMF conversion. Thanks in advance
  4. I had the same query, I contacted my local Ford dealer, asked for parts, gave them my reg and asked for the Cambelt/chain, They'll tell you either way, My 2008 1.8TDCi has a Belt.
  5. I have recently bought a 2008 Mk4 Mondeo 1.8 TDCi 6 speed, The clutch is slipping so needs replacing, I have had some quotes :o , The Dual Mass Flywheel feels and sounds fine, but some mechanics are insisting on replacing the DMF, But at an extra £400+ its a little too much at the min, I have researched a conversion to Single Mass Flywheel, however, some are advising NOT to convert, I can see the logic (A DMF has a purpose, therefore should not be changed to single), also is it advisable not to change the CSC and replace with a 2 piece clutch? Any advice much appreciated.
  6. I actually did buy a full Mk2 Focus key with the glass transponder for about £12 i think it was, I then contacted a few Auto locksmiths in my area for quotes, I then found one on my estate who charged me £50 all in, he had a new blade cut, he then paired it to my car, 10 min job and I now have a spare key and a working Fob, If your in the Manchester area Ill put you in touch with the locksmith, £50 is cheap.
  7. Update, I have won an auction for a 3 button RCL key £13:00, I have rang an Auto Locksmith local to me and explained my situation, He priced me for a Blank blade cut on site, and everything reprogrammed and 100% working within an hour at my house £70 all in, cant moan at that, ill await the delivery of the key and ill update again when he has been for future ref.
  8. Its appreciated, and thanks for not "Fobbing me off", Sorry i just couldn't resist it Ill let you know how I get on
  9. Thanks for that, Wow I've learnt so much from you in the last 3 post's pal than I have in 6 hours of Googling! Thanks for sharing that, I will have a good luck through tomorrow, My eyes are spinning.
  10. Hi, The key I have is type 1, Tibbe, The chip is a Lightish blue, I have taken pics but the Media section is under maintenance so I cannot upload any. I really appreciate your help, apart from eBay, do you know of anywhere that would have what I need kind of ready made :) . I am sorry if it sounds like Im asking you/all to do the job for me, i am a real BOOB when it comes to things like this, I have found (in the Car) a Key Code Card with 8 numbers printed on. "If you lose your key, hand this card into your FORD dealer, who will order you a replacement key. Is this any significance? thanks
  11. A bit late as I have just sold it and bought a Mondeo, The noise was actually the 40mm, 90 degree hose coming off the turbo, I had made a repair by using a special tape from a car shop, the noise was being caused by a piece of tape being sucked into the 3" slit thus making the noise, Kind of like putting a blade of grass between your fingers and blowing. problem solved, £50 for a new pipe.
  12. Ah, Ok I get you now, Assuming the eBayer I ask is Honest enough, or knowledgeable to tell me that information. Many thanks again.
  13. Thanks very much for the reply Stoney871, I'm just in the process of finding a suitable RCL key/fob, so the actual transponder inside the fob needs to be or have been assocuated to a "Blue Chip" key? Apologies if i sound thick (I prob am for buying a car with one key) lol
  14. I know this is old, I have read all the comments and still am non the wiser. I have a 2006 (06) Mondeo 1.8 Silver, I bought it with just the Key with the Blue Chip, Which is a pain in the perverbial due to the alarm sounding when opening the doors. Can I purchase a 3 button Blank key and fob from ebay, and manually programme it to Unlock, immobilise and start the car Ford want approx £240 for everything. Thanks in advance
  15. I have a 2006 Focus 1.8TDCi LX, I recently developed a split in the Longest of the Intercooler pipes causing a Hiss on boost. I replaced the pipe, I now have a Loud whining noise when the Turbo kicks in. The only way to describe this sound is "Fan belt Squeal", Power is not restricted, No smoke from back end, Its just a really horrible noise which turns heads. 12 hours of "Googling" brings up Turbo Bearing may be failing, or lack of oil. Ford want £90 per hour, and £1300 for a new turbo Any Ideas or experiences would be much appreciated
