I've had a Mk1 (1998) 2.3 since 2000, travelled over 207,000 miles now and it has been very reliable apart from a few minor problems. The electrics are now showing their age a bit, driver's door and tailgate connections sometimes intermittent, but overall I would say the best vehicle I have owned.
My 2006, 1.6 Duratorq has developed an overheating problem, but only when stuck in traffic. I suspect the electric fan is not cutting in, has anyone had a similar problem? Is there a temperature switch associated, or is the fan controlled by the computer? I have tried to get a workshop manual since I bought the car, but to no avail. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thank you in anticipation.
