  1. Thanks, one ebay mirror unit ordered and picking it up from argos today
  2. I am not keen to pay Ford £150 for a new driver side powerfold mirror for a Mk6 fiesta and see that there are plenty of other units for sale. Has anyone had any experience of fitting a non ford replacement and suggest any good online companies to purchase one from. I would like to be able to put the ford colour coded cover onto the new unit and am unsure if I will be able to do that? Any advice is appreciated! Units varying in price from just over £40 to £60
  3. Thanks for the advice, will get cleaning at the weekend and checking all the seals.
  4. Posted onto general but thought I would post here as my mums car is a 2007 fiesta zetec. Thought I'd post this one here and see if anyone can advise. It's come to that time of year when my mum and I I have the really annoying problem with condensation on the front and rear screen of our cars.I have already purchased two different brands of car dehumidifiers - the bags that are filled that you put on the dashboard and should soak in any moisture with not much luck. Someone suggested shaving foam of all things and I have gone online to find that it is something that people have tried and it appears to be a success. It is suggested that it should work for around 4-6 weeks. I have found that putting it on my bathroom mirror it is stopping the condensation from the shower! I have put it on the inside of my windscreen(I have an Audi) under a week ago and I do think that it is working(but not 100% as it could just be the weather conditions). Can anyone advise on whether it would be safe to use on my mums fiesta front and rear screen). I have only used it on my non heated front screen but wasn't sure about screens with heater elementsAny advice appreciated and also if anyone has other ideas for reducing condensation I am interested to hear. I have so far tried opening the windows and letting heat out before I get home. Running the car with air conditioning on. When parking I've tried putting the air vent control to feet. Also tried switching the blower to off. Tried putting the air on recirculation before stopping engine(but don't know if this automatically goes to circulate when engine is stopped?). I keep newspapers on the rubber mats to soak any water in wet weather and remove from the car trying to reduce themoisture in the car.

  6. I must admit it is usually back up cds which have been working fine in my car and in the house. The fiesta is my mums car. The cds used to play fine. The interference has only happened recently. I will get a new lead on ebay to try to at least cure the ipod problem. Thanks for your input
  7. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem? 2007 ford fiesta zetec with standard ford single cd unit and when I am playing cds they seem to play all right for a while and then I start to get interference through the unit and I end up giving up on the cd and listening to the radio! I have tried a couple of different cd lens cleaners but it hasn't made any difference. Can anyone advise? Aso when the car was bought it came with a few extras which included an ipod connection. I have a lead that I connect to the ipod and plug in but I often get the sound coming and going and I have to jiggle around the lead until the sound comes out through the speakers properly. I don't know if it would be the lead or the connection in the car. Any idea on what it is more likely to be? I would rather get advice here first before contacting the garage. thanks
  8. Thanks for the quick response :)
  9. I have taken the fuse out for the power fold function as one mirror is clicking on folding in and is basically knackered! this means I can't adjust the mirrors now but it's not a problem to live with but do I need to put fuse in for mot? If anyone can let me know it would be appreciated-mot is tomorrow
  10. Thanks very much for that information. I have checked my last parts invoice and the spark plugs and pollen filter were changed at the last service app 1.5 years ago. I was going to go for ford parts but will check out aftermarket also.
  11. Hi, I am hoping to get some help here on what items to purchase to service a 2007 ford fiesta 1.4 zetec. I am getting the service done as a homer and the mechanic is not a Ford mech so I wanted to make sure I had all the parts present for the job. The car was last serviced just over a year ago and the spark plugs were changed. Am I right in thinking that these are changed infrequently? I was thinking I needed to get: oil oil filter air filter - not sure how often this should get changed? pollen filter - is this the same as air filter - does the car have one?? can anyone advise brake fluid? again not sure if it would be required - does this get done within a set time or mileage covered? coolant replaced?? I topped up the coolant before this winter as the level was near the minimum - is a top up ok or should it get flushed out and replaced? Have I missed anything?? The car has done a very low mileage - currently sitting around 19k I think and has covered app 4k since last service. Would really appreciate any advice so I can be organised! I have posted my query on maintenance section also so hopefully someone will pick it up and be able to help

  13. Looking for some advice regarding coolant. Just noticed on my mums fiesta that the coolant level is sitting slightly under the minimum level. The car runs with no overheating issues but I was wondering if I should top up the antifreeze or do I just add a bit of water? It is a 2007 fiesta zetec with 17k on the clock. I am getting a bit confused with whether it is ok to just top up the level or does it need emptied and refilled with new antifreeze? Some information says that it should be changed at 5 years but other information online says that Ford antifreeze should be ok for 10 years?? I am sure that last year when the car got serviced the coolant was checked and it was ok. Can anyone confirm that Ford antifreeze is now all purple in colour and is ok to mix it with the current antifreeze that is in the car which appears to be a pinkish colour. Ay advice is appreciated.
  14. I was wondering if anyone has had to replace a fiesta power fold mirror and if so is a non Ford part a good option? The price I can get online is approximately £50-£60 for a non Ford part with a genuine mirror unit coming in at over £100. This is for a 2007 fiesta - mk6(I think!) Maybe a stupid question but I was wondering if you have two different makes will there be a difference in the speed of the folding in of the mirror and the motor noise? If anyone can advise it would be much appreciated. For now the power fold option is disabled and I don't know if it's worth spending the money replacing the mirror as one was done under warranty when the car was 2 years old and the other one packed in when the car was 4 years old.
  15. Can anyone advise on whether a fiesta aged 2007 in colorado red will have a laquer finish over the paint? I was asking elsewhere in this forum about a section that has been reapainted and is fading quickly and wondered if it might be because there was not a laquer clear coat put on top?
