      it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  2. While sitting in a traffic jam today I was messing around with the consumption computer. When I held the S button down for >4 seconds the computer constantly bleeps and shows all segments of the lcd display. If you keep pressing S you seem to get a load of extra data including what looks like remaining fuel in LTR and Gallons, something that might be pressure in the manifold, and a few others that I have no idea on. Any knowledge of this anyone?

    Yes. It's a diesel. They do rattle a bit, although not as much as earlier diesels did.
  6. I have just replaced the accessory belt on my tdci Focus and noticed the oil filter looks like it has not been changed in ages. As Ford mechanics would never consider not changing the filter I was wondering how often they are supposed to be replaced? Shall I give the engine a flush do you think?

    ~I would find out what exactly is wrong with the engine IE broken rings, valve seats burnt , cracked head etc. Then go to a garage who wants to fix your car and ask them for a quote?

    Exactly what mine does. I have disconnected but not removed the EGR and although smoother on acceleration still makes little boost until normal temperature is reached. I put this down to programing.

    Mine is down on power until the temperature gauge gets to half way. Are the turbo pipes tight?
  12. I am looking for a cheap way to get some more power from the focus 1.8 tdci and have seen a number of in line boxes that install between the fuel pressure sensor and the ECU. There are a number of them for sale on the famous auction site but is there a better option without spending more than £100?

  14. I had an Audi engine that did this. Trouble was when the valve opened it stuck open resulting in next to no oil pressure at idle.

  16. I am very confused with data I am finding on the net. According to a number of sellers selling the ELM327 on the famous auction site, my 2002 tdci 1.8 is not OBD compatible. However there is a OBD port below the steering wheel. Is this an OBD port? Anyone have a clue what software will work if it is? Thanks.

    I have to say , mine does this when it's cold. I crank it over and the engine fires then stalls. I now crank wait for a few seconds and then release the key. It's fine then.

  21. I have noticed my focus seems to have little power until the coolant temperature has reached half way on the scale, which can take 15 miles if the temp outside is below 0ºC. Is this normal for this car? The engine runs fine apart from that.

    Hi I have just bought a 2002 Focus from a person at work. I has an annoying squeak from the accessory belt when cold and damp and the previous owner was told by his garage it was a design fault! Is this a common problem and would this be an issue with the AC compressor out of line or shall I change the belt to see if this fixes it? My car looks like it's one without a tensioner, has anyone done one before? Simon

    Thanks everyone, I have a tin of belt dressing on the way and I might change the belt when the snow stops and the temperature warms up a bit! I will roughen up the pulleys a bit too!

    That's what I was afraid of. There was mention of the AC compressor moving out of alignment and causing a squeak, might check it out. If not it looks like the idlers need replacement.

    Thanks Stef123, looking at the ford manual I think it is in fact a tensioner type as mine has air con and the pretensioner type does not show the compressor. As the squeak is loud I will try a new belt and check the pulleys and idlers at the same time.
