Used to fill up with sainsburys city diesel, recently after a remap I now have ran a tank and a bit of v power + nitro diesel and it's definitely made a difference, smoother, quieter! more power. 5th gear tv programme tests showed a 6 hp increase on a Citroen estate, so it's likely you'll notice the difference. Whether il continue to fill up with nitro + I don't know but it works out about £6 a tank more so not too bad considering I have a slight mpg increase too. Bp ultimate is apparently the same but I've heard that shell is slightly superior. Esso will probably be better than the supermarket fuel in my opinion but they don't do premium. It's up to you if it's worth it, i'll probably switch back to standard shell diesel soon, see if anything happens.

  4. They are illegal and dangerous on the roads as they require self levelling and washing sensors along with projector headlights. If any of these are missing it should fail the mot, if not the tester is suspect. High end cars even have the suspension levelling instead of the lamp, thats how much effort goes into hids. I've been blinded by illegal hids they are really annoying, in your side mirror esp. If you've got projectors not quite as bad, but reflectors you can forget it IMO.
  5. Won't they check for a certain type of emission with a DPF though. I have egr blanked and duplex rear section too, just unsure about DPF removal. Also I have no rear silencer unlike yours, just a centre. Does this mean my DPF could be different to yours? Have you deleted the egr software off the ecu out of interest?

  7. Lenny what are you going to do about the tailpipe emission checks that might come in though?

People actually insure their alloys in case of theft or damage etc. in voiding insurance the insurance company would actually have to prove that those alloys caused the accident, if you have enough tread I don't see how they could. Furthermore many zetec s owners change their alloys to 18s again which is the same size as what was previously on it with the appearance pack. - unlikely to even be noticed unless they're 'blinged up'. Tyre tread is way more important in the event of an accident IMO.

  10. Thanks for the info guys. Think i may just go with a remap then. Will be a lot cheaper and my DPF is fine ATM and I think it will be ok for a long time as I do mostly motorway miles (30-35 a day) so it gets up to temp easily. :) Sent from my iPad using Ford OC mobile app
  11. True and I understand that, thinking about it I am still unsure about getting it done especially as I'm doing it for performance/economy, but it puts a glimmer of hope in that if done professionally it may well be undetectable for a long long time. Sent from my iPad using Ford OC mobile app

We'll guys, I've just spoken to a professional DPF removal and remap company, they do many many vehicles including new Fords, BMW, Porsche, Audi etc. I questioned them with the new mot rules and they said it's only VISUAL inspection - a blanking pipe would void obviously, but they said they do the most professional job they can to make it look like the DPF is untouched and car is unmodified. I then questioned about bringing in something to plug in via OBD ports etc. they said its impossible- they've invested over 30000 pounds on remap equipment and still can't read all cars software via the OBD ports. They wouldn't be able to create a tool that's clever enough to do this. So there we go guys, looks like i WILL be having it done! Sent from my iPad using Ford OC mobile app
  14. Ok, il just go for the remap without DPF removal then. Is EGR software delete something you'd recommend or is it risky. Is just a blanking plate sufficient enough?
  15. Right so after all the DPF hype I've decided i do not really want to remove it. HOWEVER i know they are an issue. i will be going in for a remap anytime soon, but i want to keep the DPF in place, if they remap do you think that, if and when, there is an issue with it they can just remove and delete. Or does it not work that way after a remap has already been done…. Secondly i blanked the EGR with great success and it feels more responsive especially in 4th (more torque lower down) When i go for a remap is it worth deleting it from the ECU, - they said they can do this at no extra charge… or will it be a mistake in the future ie. when selling on, or more stringent MOTs. Can the EGR software be loaded back on at all? will it need to be? Lastly, will the remap affect the DPF at all if still in place? i know Lenny is quite a knowledgable guy and i believe has remapped with DPF still in place…. but did you have the EGR software deleted!?...
