Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. 60,plate Smax Engine Problems

Hi, I have a 11 plate S-Max 2.0 163ps and have noticed that on my car as well. As Mintalkin suggested it is the DPF trying to regenerate. These engines need to go on a cruise every now and then at a constant speed so the DPF can regenerate properly. When my car does this I keep it in 4th gear and try to maintain 2500rpm on a duel carriageway and this allows the regeneration. You will notice the exhaust note change back to normal and a smoother idle return

  3. Fiesta Mk7 Rear Wheel Bearing, Help Appreciated!

Won't be the bearing unless there is loads of play in it. More likely that he's hit your wheel as well and could have bent your stub axle (bit the wheel bearing sits on) or even bent the axle. Best bet is to get a 4 wheel alignment check done and check the camber for that wheel
  4. Yes most probably you outside temp sensor as they are located right behind the front bumper. How hard was your 'bump'? Check to see if your air con works, the light on switch will still work but the compressor may not be cutting in. If the 'bump' was quite hard then you may have damaged the air con condenser (air con radiator) and the hissing noise was the gas escaping. Bumpers are good at hiding hidden damage after a bump!!
  5. Fiesta 1.25 Zetec Clutch Problems

Sounds like clutch has worn right out, has the clutch been slipping prior to this happening? Is there a burnt smell from the engine bay with the bonnet open?
  6. Engine Rattling When Idle

Yes could be dual mass flywheel (DMF) does engine make a rattling noise when you turn the car off and do you get a pulsing feel through the clutch pedal if you push it half way down? Be looking around £1200 at a guess from main dealer for clutch, slave cylinder and DMF
  7. Escort Mk1 Vin Number

Hi there anyone tel me how many digits should be in the VIN number of a 1968 mk1 escort? Thanks
  8. Help Needed With 1991 1.6 8V Xr2I

Think you are on the right lines of the throttle position sensor. Don't think they were the most reliable and gave all sorts of driving problems. Think ford brought out modified gold plated terminals in the multiplug which would be cut off and re soldered on
